Episode 12 - Christina Bellamy: Transformation and Growth in the Federal Penitentiary.

Episode 12 - Christina Bellamy: Transformation and Growth in the Federal Penitentiary.

Is it possible to be ‘always becoming’ even in prison? Of course, it is! Christina Bellamy, a retired Licensed Mental Health Counselor, talks to us about her work in Colemen Prison—the largest Federal penitentiary in the country. Since 2001 she has been a volunteer facilitator of the Alternative to Violence Project (AVP), providing hundreds of workshops, and teaching incarcerated prisoners how to be co-facilitators of the program.

Christina refers to herself as “Composting Christina”, a name she gave herself when working with men and women in the prisons. It reflects her passion for composting and gardening. I love how she uses composting and gardening as an analogy of “becoming”, saying it is about “transformation, diversity, inclusion, hard work, a natural process that honors what is there…and lets go of the results”--the same as the ‘becoming process’ in all of us.

It is incredible how the AVP helps prisoners form healthy, positive groups that support and help each other. You will learn so much more by listening to this interview.

Episode 11 : Dr. Sarah Bober, is a pediatric and Prenatal Chiropractor

Episode 11 : Dr. Sarah Bober, is a pediatric and Prenatal Chiropractor

Dr. Sarah Bober, is a pediatric and Prenatal Chiropractor at Full Life Chiropractic in Tampa, Florida. Sara is the recipient of the prestigious Clinical Excellence Award upon graduation. She is certified in the Webster Technique by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association which gives her the credentials to safely and specifically adjust pregnant moms. She is also a member of The Pediatric Experience which is a training program for Pediatric Chiropractors who want to provide excellent service and care for their community.
I had been following her on Instagram and was so impressed by her positive energy and enthusiasm. I could tell she would have an amazing becoming story to share, and I was not disappointed!

Sarah’s “Becoming Story” includes overcoming family trauma and her own self-limiting beliefs. She shares some of those earlier personal experiences, and is clearly proud of her parents and their own “Becoming” process. She and her family members always assumed, since she was a little girl, that she would become a pediatrician. She hadn’t even questioned it, going forward with her plans, attending University of Central Florida with a major in pre-med. But Sarah discovered she did not like her major and the stress she was experiencing led to severe migraines. This is when she got introduced to chiropractic care to address her own health concerns. She decided it was time to follow a more authentic path by changing her career plans to pursue chiropractic instead.

Fast forward to 2020. Sarah was on her path to launch her career when COVID hit. And, like many of us, she had to make some adjustments. Things were not going to go as planned, at no fault of her own. She describes herself as having a more “rigid nature”, but is now learning to be in the flow, allowing things to unfold. You will hear how Sarah practices self-care to manage stress and anxiety. And she ends our interview with some insightful advice--
“It’s less about the little things that are happening to you, and more about your response to it”…”take ownership of your words”…”give yourself a lot of grace. . . and, “journal you never know what will show up” (LOVE THAT, SARAH!!)

UPDATE: Wow. I just found out Sarah is a friend of my beautiful niece and God-daughter, Josie S. We had no idea until after the interview. Just another example of how small the world really is.

Episode 10 : Gary Teaney – Helping clients “Gain Access to Their Power”

Episode 10 : Gary Teaney – Helping clients “Gain Access to Their Power”

Owner of Transformational Consulting and author, Gary Teaney was my business coach a few years back. He helped me create a vision for how I wanted to grow my therapy practice, but also started me on the path of writing a book “Conscious Partings – Ending Your Relationship from a Place of Love”, which I am still in the process of writing. We talked about me doing a podcast one day, so he has played a pivotal role in my own personal ‘becoming’ story.

Gary tells some great stories about his life. His process of becoming includes his experiences as a father and husband. Plus, over 30 years of business experience helping the people and companies he consults with – to include Disney and Coca-Cola. He also helps companies win Government Contracts. Gary shares how he started his career in the radio business selling advertising in his early 20s, buying two radio stations before the age of 30. He is also the author of two books, the latest published this year titled “Winning Government Contracts and RFPs in Tampa Bay”.

Gary says that he helps his clients “gain access to their power” and “illuminate the path to toward their goals . . . Manifesting the goals”. Gary tells us that his own transformational shift occurred when he stopped being a salesperson and started partnering with his clients. He attributes his success to having mentors that helped him see “the bigger picture”.

This is a great episode. We touched on so much to include what is happening in our world today with the pandemic and all the social unrest. We talk about the difficulties with coping with the unknown and the loss of control over some much we are experiencing right now.

EP 009: Emily Harris talks about the “dark night of the soul” and her “awakening”

EP 009: Emily Harris talks about the “dark night of the soul” and her “awakening”

Entrepurner, founder of Soul Media, and host of the Soul Collective podcast, Emily Harris, shares her personal story of ‘becoming’. Emily was living the life she thought she was suppose to live as a successful, business women in corporate America. Emily talks about having ‘checked off the boxes’, taking her lead from her father, an immigrant from India who showed her how hard work and discipline is the path toward the American Dream. But something was missing for Emily. Climbing up the corporate ladder was not as fulfilling as she thought it would be.

Emily talks about the “dark night of the soul” and her “awakening”, realizing that she had been out of alignment with her core values of authenticity, vulnerability, and compassion. Emily shared that she see she had been telling herself ‘stories’ that she was “not good enough to” and that she “had to work harder than everybody else”.

Emily talks about how fear and our limiting beliefs hold us back from from moving forward. She also explains that all the people that come into our lives are “beautiful mirrors into our own consciousness” that shows us where we need to work on ourselves. Emily says we first have to do some “unbecoming” of what was previously learned so that we can move forward in an authentic becoming.

I love how she said “life is not something happening to me, it’s happening for me”.

Emily provides a 12 week business and marketing coaching program called “Shine your Light”. She helps her clients identify their belief system that may be causing blocks and blind spots, helping find their souls purpose. The program offers three 60 minute calls a month, with each call covering what she calls “three core pillars—Energy Activation, Business strategy and Marketing Tactics.

This is a wonderful episode, truly giving hope and promise that you can change your life by letting go of old scripts, moving forward despite fear, and embrace your souls purpose.
