We're reading the Wheel of Time series of fantasy novels by Robert Jordan! We read them when we were younger, but now we are wiser.

Why? Because they're so much fun! Adventure, magic, battles, politics, treachery, horses, braid-pulling... these books are top flight entertainment. They're also, as the kids say these days, "problematic". We'll dig into it as we go.

We read about 5 chapters every episode, and we recap the events of the story, so you don't have to read along unless you want to. Join us!

    tEotW: Prologue-Chapter 5

Blood and ashes! We begin our odyssey with the first book of the series: The Eye of the World. We'll get our first taste of the sharp characterization and epic scale that makes these books so much fun to read.
We'll also dig in to the question that drives this whole series: is Bran al'Vere a cannibal?
Note to the wary: this episode has a few SPOILERS for the rest of the books. We got carried away, but we will do better at avoiding spoilers in future episodes.

We discuss the epic story telling and tense action as the party is pulled away from their home and thrust into a much wider and more dangerous world. Also, we have a lot of trouble pronouncing Nynaeve.

We see what happens when our dear village folk get their first look at a big(ish) city in Baerlon. Whitecloaks, suspicious townsfolk, and darkfriends around every corner!
They don't know who to trust. Maybe they should trust... the Devil?

Our heroes' time in Baerlon is cut short. They have to make another desperate dash, and they discover that there are worse things out there than Trollocs and Fades.
Also, Mat makes his worst decision yet.

Our heroes are scattered! Rand and Mat head downriver on a sailing ship while Perrin and Egwene meet some real strange folk. Like, wearing a red skirt and a yellow blouse strange. Can you imagine?

Enjoyable

I’m happy to have found an enjoyable podcast about The Wheel of Time. These guys have great chemistry, I’d honestly listen to them talk about anything.

Yeah! A Reread!

Man, you guys are one of my OG’s in WOT podcasting. I have followed you from the beginning, just looking for anyone talking about this series that I love and I was so glad to come across your show a few episodes in. It has been a pleasure hearing Alice and Micah discovery an affinity for the books and for Jeff to finally finish them. I loved your takes on the various subject matters in the books and how funny you all are. I eagerly waited for each episode… turned to your Harry Potter and Sookie Stackhouse shows when I had to wait longer. Above all, it is my deep pleasure to hear that you all have decided to begin a reread!… Your first (wink). I can already hear you all noticing the well placed Jordan easter eggs and foreshadowing, but mostly I hear the respect for the beautiful world that he created. Enjoy this one. There is nothing better than your first reread… except your 3rd.

And I look forward to finally meeting you all at JordanCon this year. I saw you guys when I went the year before last, but by the time I had a chance to leave the group I was in you vanished like the wind. I was very disappointed, but I’m glad I’ll have another chance. Take care and may the light illumine you.

Sincerely,

CallMeNakomi

Incredible

So fulfilling to have gone through this reread with this cast. I’ve listened to every episode and can honestly say Fridays will be less exciting without new episodes. Thank you!
