Vitamins and pregnancy myths debunked

This podcast has supplied very impressive information on so much of the problematic wellness industry practices.

Listening to the episode on pregnancy and labor, I felt vindicated about the very real confusion that goes on between the mainstream and alternative medicine practices and the inability to rely on them due to such conflicting information that is given.

The vitamins episode stunned me with the reality that I’ve been buying into an industry that really doesn’t check itself scientifically.

Thank you Jane and Dann, you are both doing wonderful work.

Five stars for S1. Don’t bother with S2.

Season 1 was so well done. They explored MLMs from a data-driven perspective that was also compassionate, and focused on how people who just want to earn a little extra money are being preyed upon by these awful companies. I want everyone considering joining an MLM to listen to season one first.

Season 2 is a huge miss, the exact opposite of the first season. Instead of focusing on predatory practices and the frightening lack of safety standards and efficacy of the vast majority of wellness products and services, she spends her time mocking people who use them. She literally wanders around a part of town with lots of these places and just laughs at how stupid everyone is. She viciously condescends her own boyfriend for his lovely crystal collection - which he says he enjoys having because they make his home feel beautiful and comfortable - then rakes him over the coals for not journaling, which is apparently her preferred self care outlet. And don’t even get me started on the episode about pregnancy. Mothers are relentlessly targeted by wellness companies, yet the episode is spent getting offended over nice strangers saying “it’s a girl, I can tell because you’re carrying so high!” Another human is just doing what humans do - trying to connect with their own, because we are a social species - and you’re spending the air time you have to try to make it sound like some toxic attack?! I stopped listening to the second season after that. I can listen people being d**ks anytime, I don’t need to listen to your podcast if that’s all you’re gonna provide.
