We're trying to save college football with Ryan Nanni
In an attempt to help make our Notre Dame listeners smarter about college football, the Earned 5-Star Podcast is going forward with an offseason plan to interview some of our favorite college football writers and personalities around the country. It's a plan so brilliant, I really can't believe other podcasters don't have these things called "guests" on their own shows.
First up is the Shutdown Fullcast's Ryan Nanni because he said, "yes" and because he enjoys a good podcast nightcap.
Some of the things we discuss:
When was peak college football?
It's all the SEC's fault.
The Nick Saban dynasty.
What's up with the ACC?
The myth of out of conference games.
Is Notre Dame the Last Samurai?
Ryan power ranks the 5 most overrated teams for 2023 and ducks.
And of course a handful of other things.

Is Josh basically a doctor now?
Hey guys I just wanted to say I’ve listened to y’all since I started medical school four years ago. Whether it was driving to the hospital for an early shift or studying late at night, y'all's insight and sometimes very random commentary (about fencing feuds, New York’s elections, or Brendan’s ridiculous memes) made me smile and kept me going during some brutal weeks, especially during the pandemic. Basically y'all were my weekly guest lecturers so if Josh wants to claim he’s a supreme warlord and MD now you’ve earned your 5 star degree. Cheers guys and hopefully with your help I‘ll survive residency!
Miss Josh but Wow! Nice duo tonight
Hey guys I’ve been a loyal listener for years often times listening to the weekly show multiple times each week. As a loyal subway alumni living in the Pacific NW I consume everything Irish I can find on the podcast and YouTube sectors and you guys are my number one landing spot every week. I just wanted give kudos to the duo tonight pitching a perfect game with the ace on the road supporting his boys. Great insight and thanks so much for always delivering entertaining, intelligent and insightful content. I’ve had to unsubscribe to that other family of podcasts that inundate us with 3 hour ego driven banter day in and day out as it just proved to be unlistenable following the Utah St OC drama. That leaves me with this fantastic 3 hour a week as my one long formatted podcast I look forward to each week. Thanks again.
Proud of you, Josh
On the latest show, Joshua said
“Why should I deny myself something that I enjoy just because other people don’t like it?”
“And I said to myself, it isn’t great, but it’s alright, why do I hate this? Why do I hate this?”
“I don’t think Family Guy should be telling me how to live my life.”
Josh, your conscious mind was talking about Nickelback.
But your unconscious mind was signaling that it’s time to let go of long held thoughts of hate and be open to a new world, by embracing…The Old World.
