The Educated Cowgirl Podcast!

Abby Carpenter

Educating the equine industry to bring us closer together as a community! I have always been passionate about promoting the equine industry and helping to inspire the next generation of horsemen and women. One of my main goals with this podcast is to provide new learning opportunities to grow their and my own knowledge of other disciplines, breeds, and several different topics that they are not apart of or no nothing about! I want to open people's minds to continue to learn more about horses and the industry to help continue their education as we are always learning and growing! I also want to help bridge the gap between the different worlds we seem to have created within the industry.

Send us Fan Mail On today's episode, I am sharing my amazing conversation with a lady who I not only grew up showing horses with, but also has built an incredible career as an equestrian team coach. Happy New Year! Ending 2025 with a Bang and Looking to The Future of Lesson Programs in the Equine Industry with Christy Landwehr

Send us Fan Mail On today's episode, it seems only fitting to talk about the future on New Year's Eve. I sat down and talked with Christy Landwehr who is very well accredited Master Riding Instructor and NRHA Sponsorship Director to name a few of her titles.  Lesson programs play such a vital role for so many riders in the equine industry and a lot of us can remember that first lesson pony or horse we rode for the first time that we fell in love with and who changed our lives forever! In this episode, Christy and I discuss how what defines a lesson horse today has changed and how trainers in specific disciplines can do more to introduce new riders to the sport of riding. How open and honest communication between instructors and parents is essential to the safety of the student and for the running of the instructor's business, how thinking creatively can help attract parents to lesson programs and so many more topics.  As we look into the 2026 and all the hopes and goals we have for the year, it is important to be having these type of conversations to remember that a student's first experience in the saddle is positive for them to continue to grow and thrive in the industry!  Resources & Links:  Christy Landwehr on InstagramChristy Landwehr on FacebookEmail: clandwehr@nrha.comExplore your horse's future with EtalonDiscount code: Cowgirl5Join the TEC Email List!Check out the TEC blog Support the show Connect with Abby and The Educated Cowgirl:  Follow on Instagram @theeducatedcowgirl and @theabbymae2 Follow on Facebook @theeducatedcowgirlFollow on Tiktok @abbymaeTECCheck out the websiteDon't miss an episode so don't forget to follow the show or sign up for the email newsletter!

"Do I Really Belong Here?", Imposter Syndrome Insights for Equestrians from the Elevate Your Ride Ladies

Send us Fan Mail I know I am a day earlier than when I usually bring you a new episode, but I am just too excited about today's episode!  This topic is something that has been on my heart to do an episode about for a long time and I knew I needed the right people to bring on to have this conversation with and boy did I pick the right people! Returning to the podcast from Season 1, Lauren and Ellie from Elevate Your Ride not only have the knowledge, but the experience to back up everything they share and talk about to help riders from a fitness and mindset perspective as you heard in our first episode together. In today's episode, what they both share about imposter syndrome and those feelings when we doubt ourselves and question if we deserve what we have is so incredible! Seriously, I am petitioning for them to speak at more events!  I feel that Imposter Syndrome in the horse industry is often overlooked or swept under the rug and is something that needs to be talked about more! I took so much away from our conversation and I know you will too!  Elevate Your Ride FB: @elevateyourride IG: @elevate.your.ride Support the show Connect with Abby and The Educated Cowgirl:  Follow on Instagram @theeducatedcowgirl and @theabbymae2 Follow on Facebook @theeducatedcowgirlFollow on Tiktok @abbymaeTECCheck out the websiteDon't miss an episode so don't forget to follow the show or sign up for the email newsletter!

"Suddenly Roan!"-Should I start a Horse True Crime Podcast and All things Roan with Christa Lafayette and Laura Simiele from Etalon!

Send us Fan Mail Today's episode comes to you the day after my birthday and at the start of 4th of July weekend! I am joined by two returning guests this week Christa Lafayette and Laura Simiele of Etalon to introduce some exciting additions to their programs, the new research they have found and published about Roan Horses, and the launch of their July Promo!  Roan horses are so uniquely beautiful with their eye-catching appearance and they have a long history in many different breeds of horses. Until now a lot of the research that was done previously about them was not published or we could not source it. That is where Christa and her team have stepped in to test and discover fascinating information about Roans and their genetic makeup.  As a color genetics nerd, I learned so much from our conversation and it was so much fun talking with them again. I am so thankful that they chose me to have this important discussion that I believe will have a huge impact on the equine industry!  etalondx.com to learn more about this research FB: @etalondx and IG: @etalondx Support the show Connect with Abby and The Educated Cowgirl:  Follow on Instagram @theeducatedcowgirl and @theabbymae2 Follow on Facebook @theeducatedcowgirlFollow on Tiktok @abbymaeTECCheck out the websiteDon't miss an episode so don't forget to follow the show or sign up for the email newsletter!
