The Empower Hour: Seeing the Needs Around Us
I had the opportunity to chat with Amy Sutton and Chris Koop from the Hastings Family Service. Hastings Family Service is a community based nonprofit agency providing a range of emergency and supportive services for over forty years to assist and guide neighbors in their local community who lack food, clothing, shelter, support or transportation.
HFS provides help and hope in a spirit of caring and respect, knowing that unforeseen circumstances like job elimination, reduction in work hours or medical emergencies can happen to any of us at any time. HFS strives to assist those in need while providing fulfilling opportunities for volunteers and community members to support those efforts.
Poverty and need doesn’t always look the same around us. Find out more about how these women are leading the efforts of HFS to meet the needs of those they serve and equip them with resources. They are making a difference.

The Empower Hour: Someday is Now
Listen to my interview with Jill Pavlak, co-founder of the First Woman-Owned Microbrewery in Minnesota.
Urban Growler® Brewing Company was opened in July 2014 by Head Brewer Deb Loch and her partner Jill Pavlak. These two combined their complementary skills and passions to create great beer, food and space for everyone. Urban Growler’s mission is to bring people together through beer. The brewery, taproom, beer garden and outside retail sales help establish community among all beer drinkers.

The Empower Hour: We Are Living in a #SelfieCentered World – Authenticity
We live in a totally and completely selfie-obsessed world. What are we trying to do is to show the world the “me” that I want them to see. The more filtered our lives become, the less authentic we are. One day we wake up and have all sorts of other struggles and don’t know why. We fear and avoid unfiltered communication. In this Empower Hour episode I will help you learn how to be more authentic as well as the steps to take to give your social media and authenticity assessment.

The Empower Hour: We Are Living in a #SelfieCentered World – Finding Contentment
In our technology driven world we have never been more connected with each other, yet never more disconnected. We have become #selfiecentered. In this episode of the Empower Hour I share with you how technology and social media can complicate age-old struggles such as comparison, envy, greed, jealousy and a variety of other addictions. When you learn how to take a break from technology and social media you will find contentment. When we’re spending too much time on technology and social media we compare and the more we compare the less satisfied we are with life.
