Corporate volunteering: Bringing communities together with Sam Harradine and Toby Rix from HandsOn

Corporate volunteering: Bringing communities together with Sam Harradine and Toby Rix from HandsOn

Sustainability and the construction industry don’t often go hand-in-hand. The industry generates an estimated 39% of the world’s carbon emissions according to the World Green Building Council. With organisations and companies across the globe trying to change this, HandsOn was founded with a focus on trying to develop more sustainable practices and to construct builds that benefit communities around the UK.

In this episode, the co-founders of HandsOn, Sam and Toby, talk about how they connect corporates with their local communities to help fund new learning spaces, gardens and playgrounds that benefit local groups, children and families.

They discuss the processes and steps they take that are formed around their ESG values, including:
    ·         Sourcing more sustainable materials
    ·         Designing directly with the end-users to capture their needs and to future-proof their builds
    ·         Partnering with their clients to develop socio-economic relationships between corporates and communities
    ·         How they get people and teams involved and hands-on with their HandsOn builds
