For Finally Decentering Men in Our Sexualities

For Finally Decentering Men in Our Sexualities

Even in queerness, many folks struggle to be honest about their attraction to men and how it has changed as they've evolved as people. Earlier this year, friend of the show Yemko got real about how compulsory heterosexuality made it difficult for her to be honest about her no-attraction to men. She realized she wasn't pansexual, she's lesbian. Even Kehlani has a similar revelation recently. Things got REAL.

Here we discuss why many queer folks struggle to be honest about complexities in their attraction to men, how these changes can impact partners, and how this patriarchal world is a lot to blame.

For The L Word: Generation Q

Here we are again, talking about The L Word: Generation Q, but this time in full force. Y'all know I wasn't too keen on the first iteration of the show so this week we're joined by Santierra, a friend, PR professional, Columbus, Ohio native and lover of The L Word, including its first run that started in 2004. This week we're diving deep into what we've loved, hated, and didn't particularly care for in the Generation Q reboot in Season 1 and Season 2.

Get ready for a wild ride. This is a long one!

For Those Who Don't Dream of Labor

For Those Who Don't Dream of Labor

"I don't dream of labor" has become a widely popular statement online since the start of the pandemic. With many unable to return to work for safety concerns, other being laid off, and others simply walking away from jobs due to being overworked, many people are reimagining their relationship to work at large.

This week Janaya speaks with Nancy Sánchez Tamayo, a femme Chicanx transdisciplinary artist, educator, curator, dj and spiritual healer from Back of the Yards, Chicago.

    For the Bisexual Boys

    For the Bisexual Boys

Have you heard someone say "Bisexual men are just gay." 🥴 Yikes, we have too.

In honor of Bisexual Awareness Week, we're talking to musician and Ph. D student Andre about his experience as a bisexual man navigating how to be his authentic self in a world that refuses to acknowledge the sexual fluidity of Black men. Ignorance is not bliss, beloveds. Let's do better!

    Finding Solace in Queer Friendships

    Finding Solace in Queer Friendships

Do your friendships with other queer people hit a lil' harder than your friendships with straight people? Or do they feel the same?

This week I'm introducing you to one of my closest friends Saaji, who is a writer, artist, podcaster and more! We get into the nitty gritty of friendships, how all chosen family don't stay "chosen family" 🥴, and the best ways to assess if your lack of friends may actually reflect how you show up in friendships.

Have any thoughts on friendships with queer folks that we didn't talk about? Message us on social with your thoughts!

Please leave a review wherever you're listening and the Femmecast will see you again in two months for Season 3!

The femme friends I knew I needed and always wanted!

Listening to this podcast has become a part of my self-care routine. Being a queer, femme, Black woman establishing a life for myself in a new city (DC) has been difficult! Podcasts have been a way for me to get to know myself more and expand my understanding of a community I’m still trying to find my place in. This podcast does that and feels like home while doing so. Thank you for creating a platform and space I can relate to as a queer, femme, Black woman. Thank you for sharing thoughts and opinions about your experiences in the world around you two and making me laugh while doing so— it’s been a saving grace during this pandemic! It’s like having an authentic and effortless conversation with your best friends. Y’all also do a great job of putting your listeners on to new media to explore, queer news, and normalizing our presence. Simply put— Y’all are appreciated. Looking forward to more episodes!
