Jen and Nani have a special gift of enriching the lives of those who listen by sharing the stories of Filipina Americans. Their energy is energetic and effortless and it just feels like you’re listening and talking to your mga kaibigan. Highly recommended! Thanks again Jen and Nani for sharing you passion to the world! I came across this podcast awhile ago but was in the middle of an audiobook and listening to other podcasts at the time so I didn’t press play on an episode until I saw that Adelina Tancioco was one of your guests. I got to know Adelina through a volunteer opportunity and admired her speaking and the meditations and prayers she led, but I didn’t know her story until now. Wow! I’m so much more impressed by her now. I also admire your excellent hosting skills asking great questions and adding your intelligent insights. I’m a true fan now and will be listening more often. Thanks for providing this space for amazing Pinays like Adelina to shine!

I always felt from a very young age that I didn’t quite fit in anywhere. I couldn’t relate to the “white” kids and I always sensed I would have a different experience from all the older mestizos I grew up with. When I started college I realized that being Filipino-American was more than just a subculture. I really felt lost about who and what I was when I left home and returned. I felt like an outsider in the community that raised me. Through TFAW project, I get to hear stories from other mestizas/first gen FilAms which make me feel less alone in my life experiences and I no longer feel like there’s “something wrong” with me. I feel like I’ve finally found somewhere I do belong and that my experiences aren’t so unusual after all.
