Rick and Madison Swift present: The Film Grouch Show. A husband and wife team that alternates between He Picks and She Picks each episode. We have a secret word of the day and a special On This Day in History where we tie in something from history to the film we've chosen. We have been reviewing movies on our site FilmGrouch.com since 2014 and have been South Florida movie critics since 2008.

Inherent Vice: Kate’s Bush
Working off of Madison's latest "She Pick" I decided to be bold and choose a Director this time. Why did I choose such an artsy-fartsy Director like Paul Thomas Anderson? Check out the show for the explanation!
If you're like me, you want your movies to be entertaining, have good and interesting characters, and make sense. I will give PTA 1/3 of those.
Here's some of the show's highlights:
A tribute to our departed H-Man
Are all these characters real or in his head?
There's Martin Short, of course he's gonna sing!
Why hello there, Tina Goldstein!
What the Hell is Vigilant California?
On This Day in History - is PTA obsessed with this guy, or what?!?
Word of the Day - Rhymes with gizzard!
Madison reveals her "She Pick" and it's a comedy . . . apparently.

Licorice Pizza: Where’s the Pizza?
This was a Madison “She Pick” using Christine Ebersol from my Mac and Me “He Pick!”
Neither of us saw this movie, but the ads for it kept driving me crazy. Naturally, Madison picked it just for the revenge factor alone. But, did it turn out to be a movie I actually liked?!?
Here’s some of the show’s highlights:
Is this relationship even legal?
Was that Herman Munster?
Who is this movie for or about?
On This Day in History - kind of an obscure date.
Word of the Day - did you catch it?
I reveal my next “He Pick” - can you guess it from my clues?

Mac and Me: Until You Whistle No More!
This was my “He Pick” using Jennifer Aniston from Madison's The Break-Up “She Pick”
Madison had never seen this incredibly unforgettable classic masterpiece, so I just had to share it with her, even if I had to break my own rules to fit it in. What can I say, it's good to be the King!
I think this is possibly the funniest episode we have done so far! This is the one episode you can't afford to miss! Madison actually sheds tears!!!
Here’s some of the show’s highlights:
How can YOU watch "Mac and Me" for free?
Straws, Coke, and McDonald's, the trifecta miracle cure!
Is that Jennifer Aniston?
Does anyone care about the dad?
BVH? AUI? TOWW? SEARS?
On This Day in History - a new site is discovered: imCDb
Word of the Day
Screw the "Razzies" guy!!
Madison reveals her next “She Pick” - and it's sooo cheesy!

The Break-Up: Do you have enough lemons?
This was a Madison “She Pick” using Vincent D'Onofrio from my The Kid “He Pick”
We both saw this movie when it first came out, and we were both hoping that maybe it got funnier this time around. Apart from a few funny scenes they gave away in the trailer, this sad rom-com isn't all that funny. But we did have a lot of fun discussing it!
Here’s some of the show’s highlights:
A whole new intro
Speaking of "Horrible Bosses"
Magic whistles and sprites
Cool jobs in movies
How real estate works
On This Day in History
Word of the Day
I reveal my next “He Pick”

The Kid: I Saw a Bluebird On My Way to Santa Fe
This was my “He Pick” using the Six Degrees of Separation (or Kevin Bacon game) rule using Chris Pratt from Madison's Take Me Home Tonight “She Pick”
I reviewed this movie back in 2020, and I was shocked Chris Pratt was so villainous and unrecognizable in this biopic about Billy the Kid which was actually all about Vincent D'Onofrio.
Listen to why I chose this movie, my connections to the cast, and why it is a film you might have missed out on before but it's worth watching now. Yes, even though it is a "boring old Western."
Here’s some of the show’s highlights:
Who is "The Kid" anyway?
The horrible plight of Dirty Dave
Pals
On This Day in History
Word of the Day
Madison reveals her next “She Pick”

A Film Grouch Take Down of The SpyHards ”Little Nikita”
Have you ever been listening to a Podcast and thought, "Man, I really need to let them know where they went wrong"? Well, I am not saying Little Nikita was the most epic spy movie ever made, but I do feel that the SpyHards folks were missing important context and details that I wouldn't expect a Brit or a Canuck to grasp. To whit, this super secret special recording. Plus, I needed to remind myself how to post and edit, because it's been far too long, actually.
Here's some of the show's highlights:
Can a Brit and Canadian appreciate a red-scare teen drama . . . especially now?
What the Hell is a W.M.?
Rick thinks he's James Bond; it's rather sad.
Do a critically acclaimed TV drama and a Marvel movie owe allegiance to Little Nikita?
Who is Jeff Quest?

Great podcast
Great podcast. I enjoy the chemistry and voices of the hosts. Came over to the Film Grouch podcast after finding out Teeb from FSW Radio hosted his own show.

The Film Grouch Show
Very good ! Thoroughly enjoyed hearing Swift and Monroe’s take on one of the most iconic film of it’s time “Spaceballs”. I am looking forward to more episodes!
