Good podcast

I have been listening to this podcast for a while now. Years (though I do not know how many). I would say that I am a fan since I was pleasantly surprised when my email about Jackie Chan’s awards recognition was read on the show. Dave has become the largest presence in my media diet because I also follow him on Youtube and enjoy those videos. Also, I am not really interested in gaming enough to consume the Totally Rad Show or other stuff by Jeff or Devindra. That said, their banter on the show is fantastic and even funny sometimes. However, for better or worse, my consumption of this content is not particularly profound. I like movies and appreciate hearing other people’s views about them. I like the way that they engage movies. Sometimes they engage their themes, how they are constructed, or even their more industry-focused dimensions. Regardless, there is an acceptable level of rigor without being too in the weeds for a subject that I enjoy but do not have an interest in engaging with too deeply (e.g. there’s no discussion of which lenses are used and how that might impact how one might interpret a particular aspect of a film). In short, it is wonderfully conversational. I also appreciate that it reflects the larger world. Whether it was Jeff’s emotional response to the wild fires or the guys’ grappling with life in a pandemic, there is a humanity on display here that I like. Basically, this is a good podcast if you like hearing smart, sensitive people talk about something they are collectively interested in. I also like the guests that they bring on sometimes (I will not use this review to repeat my call a few years back for more Angie Han (Boom, Cicero)). Hopefully this will allow me to move on with my life. I’m doing the Slate podcast next.

These guys are like my best friends

Listening to new and old episodes alike, make me feel like I am hanging out with 3 of my old friends- old in the sense that they probably could all be my father...just kidding, only Jeff falls in that category! Lol. Thanks for all of the amazing content. I hope the show never ends

The 30% Film Podcast

These three patronizing, shameless chimps with microphones found it in themselves to lecture their audience on how to behave during Thanksgiving to open their most recent podcast. Since they are cowering in their homes, self-isolating in their homes, fearful of a virus that is going nowhere, they want the rest of the world to follow suit. Cowards. Stick to film reviews (which have become a small percentage of your content), you have no right to life advise.
