Mehhhhhh

I love true crime podcasts of any kind, I also love Billy Jensen, however- the female hosts are very self-congratulatory about their success in LA (not sure in what capacity) and literally the kind of people I avoid, living in LA myself .It’s more about themselves than the victims or people they’re interviewing. The major problem is the ‘first degree’ aspect though. They interview people who knew someone who knew someone who was the second cousin of a murder victim, in depth. Mostly people not directly affected by the murder, which would actually be a ‘first degree.’ Also they interview their boyfriends and other people widely removed from some tragedy or another, and spend 45 minutes asking them how old they were when they could realize what death was, how they felt about murder at the age of 8, and other inane questions that have nothing to do with the case and usually not with anyone from the direct family. It just misses the mark, you feel further away from the cases than a first degree perspective. It’s a 17th degree aspect. Also the cases chosen are not based on how interesting they are, or current, but rather if they can find someone 17 degrees away from the crime to interview for their show. Disappointed, because I love anything Billy Jensen but he also takes a backseat to their egos so maybe just not an opportunity to shine.

I Tried

I tried really hard to like this podcast despite some of the millenial nonsense of Jac and Alexis (seemingly no understanding of anything that happened before they were born). That and the relentless breathing into the mic from Jac, and the robotic reading of the script finally got to me. I was stil hanging on. THEN they revealed that they are intense cat haters, commenting that only crazy internet stalkers like cats. That was it. STOP. DELETE. UNSUBSCRIBE. Frankly I don't understand why Billy Jensen is a part of this. Honestly, he seems like he's wondering sometimes too.
