Stories of achievement and creativity from the outdoors to help you gear up mentally and/or physically for your next big leap - for those of us who aspire to something more, and struggle daily with balancing ambition with happiness.

More than the specific gear or activity, the discussions involve pushing ourselves to be better. To do so, we have to tackle fear, our monkey brain. We have to set ourselves up for success and to make ideas happen. But most of all, we have to be able to adjust when life takes us on a different path than our dreams.

93: Anastasia Allison on Near Death Experiences and Living on our Own Terms

93: Anastasia Allison on Near Death Experiences and Living on our Own Terms

Anastasia Allison was an unusual kid. She was into things you and I probably were not such as volunteering at a national park as an interpretive guide wearing period costumes performing hymns and folk songs with her violin. Sounds like a super cool kid to me in many ways but sadly, Allison suffered a great deal of bullying as a child. It might be for that reason she spent a lot of her life trying to conform to this “what should we be and do with our lives.”

92: Mary Fiedler: Optimal Health EVEN Through Menopause

I had a health issue this past march and I realized I knew a lot less about my body than I realized. Mary Fiedler loves what she does especially because she wants to educate clients about their bodies and their health. So, with much convincing, I got her to FINALLY come on the show and talk about bioidentical hormones for women’s health and especially through menopause. I mean, come on, we gotta live, right?

91: Amy Charity Reflects Back on that Pivotal Moment

The trajectory widens as you move away from that moment that changed everything. At the age of 34, Amy left the financial industry to pursue her passion and a career in professional bike racing. As an athlete, an Ironman, endurance trail running and finally cycling, consumed her time outside of the corporate workplace. Amy raced for the U.S. National Team and signed a contract with one of the top ten women’s professional racing teams in the world.

Great beta

Like it use it. Brian Harder of Brian.skimolife is predictably great. Host is very good at taking a tough topic and bring it to life. Seems like she does a great job of making high end gear advice accessible.

Great first gear show

Lisa's first gear show, on alpine touring ski gear was excellent. Her guest was from Exum guides, one of the preeminent outfits in north america and he really knew his stuff. I liked that despite the fact that he was WAY into the subject, he was able to inform on the full range of skill levels, including mine as someone that is just looking to buy some gear.

Thanks for the new source of knowledge Lisa!

Inspiring, informative, intellectual!

Lisa is an excellent storyteller, clear and concise. She speaks to the everyman, you find a piece of yourself in her description, you even realize you're nodding along with her....
Finding a balance between 'beta busy' and creative becomes a new goal!
Thank you for this thought provoking podcast, great job!
I'd love to hear you speak to living life 'thick and rich' as we grow older and hopefully wiser.
