GBW #135: Hornimorphs (Cat People [1982] / Repligator / The Wasp Woman [1995])

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

This week, Ryan, Chris, and Jordan dive into three horny, non-werewolf shape-shifting films with Paul Schrader's 1982 iteration of "Cat People," 1996's abysmal "Repligator," and the 1995 Jim Wynorski-directed version of the late Roger Corman's "The Wasp Woman."

GBW #134: With Friends Like These... (What About Bob? / Clifford (1994) / The Cable Guy)

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

This week, Chris, Jordan, and Ryan discuss three cringe comedies in which a comedic legend plays a character that does a number on the patience of an equally-top-shelf straight man. We start with 1991's "What About Bob?", an admitted blindspot for Jordan and Ryan prior to this episode, which holds up thanks to the two (now both unfortunately problematic) lead performances of Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss. Then, even though it's in the "bad," we contend it should be the "great" after watching it, which is 1994's utterly deranged "Clifford," in which Martin Short plays a ten-year-old boy who drives Charles Grodin to the brink. Finally, we discuss 1996's "The Cable Guy," which saw Jim Carrey take his first darkly comedic turn after a successful run of broad comedies, and the results are something that still holds up to this day.

GBW #133: I Ain't Got Aliens... I Got Family (Pitch Black / Doom / Ghosts of Mars)

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

This week, Jordan, Ryan, and Chris discuss three sci-fi horror films starring someone from the "Fast & Furious" saga before they joined the series. We start with 2000's "Pitch Black," which remains a taut, tense B-movie with a career-making performance from Vin Diesel. Then, we move into 2005's "Doom," which has little to do with the games and little to show for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's future acting prospects. Then, we get contentious with 2001's "Ghost of Mars," the arguable nadir of John Carpenter's filmography but still worth watching for the reason. And also Jason Statham is in it, but largely ineffectual.

GBW #132: Rothrock Around the Clock Tonight (Martial Law II: Undercover / Honor and Glory / Undefeatable)

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!
This week, Ryan, Chris, and Jordan dive into three American DTV efforts from International action superstar Cynthia Rothrock. We start with 1991's "Martial Law II: Undercover," a superior sequel to its 1990 predecessor and the closest of these films to resemble a followable storyline. Then, we move into the 1992 Godfrey Ho joint "Honor and Glory," which is nonsensical but highly entertaining. Then, we dive into another Godfrey Ho film, perhaps one even more nonsensical but even more entertaining, 1993's "Undefeatable."

GBW #131: Graveyard Shift (The Autopsy of Jane Doe / Last Shift / Intruder [1989])

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

This week, Chris and Ryan are happy to announce that frequent guest Jordan Perry is now joining the show is a permanent co-host! And with that, we dive into three horror films about a late night shift gone awry. We start with 2016's "The Autopsy of Jane Doe," which has rich atmosphere and two excellent leads, and that gets it through a somewhat rough final leg. Then, we move into 2014's "Last Shift," which has a couple cool concepts but never coheres. Finally, we dive into 1989's ridiculously-entertaining "Intruder," directed by Sam Raimi protege Scott Spiegel, features a bunch of Raimi-regulars (including himself, brother Ted, and Bruce Campbell), and gruesome effects by Robert Kurtzman and Greg Nicotaro.

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

This week, Ryan and Chris are joined by returning guest Ryan Frakes (The CineMagic Theater) to discuss three darker takes on famous fairy tales with 2020's moody and atmospheric "Gretel & Hansel," 2011's "Twilight"-inspired "Red Riding Hood," and 1995's enjoyable bonkers "Rumpelstiltskin."
