    Uncomfortable Conversations Episode 5 Andrea Henry

    Uncomfortable Conversations Episode 5 Andrea Henry

    Beautiful people, welcome to our final episode of the uncomfortable conversation series featuring my lawyer for both of my businesses, Andrea Henry. If I wrote Andrea’s bio it would describe her as being a heart-centred, sassy, classy, driven AF woman on a mission to make waves in the world of female owned business. I feel so safe knowing Andrea is in our corner here at The Great Canadian Woman, not just as an integral part of our community, but as our lawyer, ensuring that this business continues to scale in a super powerful and super secure way. Andrea has been on the receiving end of my white woman questions around diversity for some time now, so it’s no surprise I had to invite her to this series. I have to say, I had a ton of lightbulbs go off myself during this episode as Andrea provides an incredibly unique experience as a black woman raised in Barbados surrounded by black authority, now practising law as a black woman in Canada, surrounded by white authority. This is such a powerful and eye opening conversation. We talked about systemic racism, how the law is undeniably oppressive to marginalized communities even here in Canada.
    We talked about;
    Business as our form of activism Why MONEY, business and power is so important when you’re fighting to dismantle systemic racism. The cycle of oppression and the continuous loop of inequality that plays out in the workforce, policing & corrections. Like woah! This is another long one, but we just kept digging in to these discussions so stick around until the end, y’all.
    Remember, if you feel uncomfortable at all during the conversations, we invite you to sit in it, that’s what these episodes are about.
