Not About the Hands
The best thing about this podcast isn’t about the hand breakdowns themselves, but the deep reflection and introspection that emerges from the insightful conversation that follows. Hearing many perspectives has helped me think about the game in a refreshing new way.
Best Lead-in!
This podcast could be subtitled, "What Really Smart People are Thinking Right Now."
The episodes feature the brightest minds in a wide variety of fields. They start by analyzing a poker hand but often branch out into... well, who knows where the conversation will go?
I have to keep a pen and notebook handy so I can write down book titles or guest names which provides me with lots of future entertainment and learning. Jen and her guest will often touch on current affairs in poker but without the drama and political bias so often found elsewhere.
I also like that a lot of her guests are also chess players, as I used to spend many weekends pushing little plastic figures around a vinyl board in some smelly college cafeteria.
And finally, this podcast has THE BEST lead-in song of any gambling related show!
I like it so much I downloaded it and put it on my random playlist.
Thanks Jen!
