In a new episode of The HWM Podcast, the scholar and consultant, Kim Taylor Thompson, graced the airwaves alongside Harlem World Magazine’s Founder and Publisher, and host Danny Tisdale.
Their conversation, shed light on some great subjects aright from our headlines, from Kim’s legendary father, the late Dr. Billy Taylor, to the ascension of Harlem’s newly elected city council member, Yuseff Salaam. And delved into the political acumen of the venerable Harlem native, Keith Wright. However, the discussion didn’t stop there, as they took a moment to explore Kim’s sanctuary of serenity amidst the vibrant streets of Harlem and much more. And her book, “Progressive Prosecution: Race and Reform in Criminal Justice” co-authored with her husband, Anthony Thompson, Kim Taylor Thompson and much more.

Kim Taylor-Thompson grew up right here in the famous Riverton Houses in Harlem. Her father was world-renowned jazz musician/ambassador Dr. Billy Taylor. She is an educator teaching criminal law and community and criminal defense, with a focus on the impact of race and gender on public policy—particularly criminal and juvenile justice policy. She has won numerous awards, she is a consultant for several Fortune 500 companies and government organizations. Taylor-Thompson received her JD from Yale Law School and her BA from Brown University.

Kahlil Carmichael is Founder and Senior Pastor, Live Well Church in New Jersey, he is a graduate of New York Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Harlem, NY and the founder of FitCare360°; a not-for-profit, helping participants engages the mind, body, and spirit to attain lasting well-being with an emphasis on spiritual care, physical exercise and healthy eating, through online and in-person services. Pastor Carmichael has earned wellness certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and was an Arthritis Foundation Tai-Chi Instructor and an Arthritis Foundation exercise specialist. He is the author of “The Fitness Doctor, 50 Tips of The Day” and a monthly columnist including being a husband, father, theologian, author, podcaster, entrepreneur, avid reader and life-long learner.

They are shining examples of female minority entrepreneurs who are innovating their small businesses to address the threat that climate change poses to all of us, but especially communities of color.
