1 Corinthians 5 | Our Messy Life Together
Jonathan Hunt
Throughout the New Testament, we see a beautiful vision laid out for the church. A community of mutual love, care, healing, and devotion that ensures, as Acts chapter 2 states, “there was not a needy person among them.” However, it doesn’t take long to look around and see a disconnect between the biblical vision for church and the sad reality that these communities are often messy and broken. 1 Corinthians is, in many ways, a love letter to a messy community. A community full of broken people that are trying to follow Jesus together. What we see is that God doesn’t abandon his church when things get messy -- but rather he leans in and calls them to something better.
