EP 6 Richard Shepard on That Guy

EP 6 Richard Shepard on That Guy

What's his name? You know, the guy in the thing with the face.

Often, this is what character actors are reduced to, vague associations and cloudy memories. However, the best shine as brightly as any star, they just may be further away from the camera. They can have a few lines yet still make or break a movie. You rarely know their names, but they can leave a lasting impression. Filmmaker Richard Shepard (THE MATADOR; DON HEMINGWAY; Girls) has hired the finest and even made a documentary about the legendary John Cazale. On this episode of The High Bar, he joins Warren to raise the bar for... character actors.

EP 5 Ijeoma Oluo on Intersectionality

EP 5 Ijeoma Oluo on Intersectionality

Prejudice isn't binary. It's nuanced, complex. Oppression isn't singular, it encompasses many factors. Intersectionality recognizes the confluence of challenges facing those who fit into multiple minority categories. It makes sense but it's often overlooked. That's why we invited author/activist Ijeoma Oluo to visit The High Bar to raise the bar for...intersectionality.

EP 3 Lindsay Pulsipher on Synesthesia

EP 3 Lindsay Pulsipher on Synesthesia

Do you ever feel like you see the world differently than everyone else? Well, TRUE BLOOD’s Lindsay Pulsipher actually does. She has synesthesia, an uncommon condition by which people experience life with interwoven senses. The star of series such as JUSTIFIED and HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, sees time graphically. Host Warren Etheredge lets her explain her gift at The High Bar — she’s not a freak, she’s freakin’ awesome.

EP 2 Tom Everett Scott on The Working Actor: NOT A Dick

EP 2 Tom Everett Scott on The Working Actor: NOT A Dick

No one likes a stereotype, but actors have to live with them daily. Johnny Depp is the oddball. Tom Cruise is the Scientologist. Tom Everett Scott… is NOT a dick. He’s made a living, a healthy one, playing nice guys, nice drummers, nice dads. (Look out, Wimpy Kid, you’re about to be smothered in niceness for… The Long Haul.) On this episode of The High Bar, my lunch-pail pal raises the bar for… The Working Actor.

EP 1 David Arquette on Legacy: Don’t Google Daddy

EP 1 David Arquette on Legacy: Don’t Google Daddy

What if your greatest regrets as well as your accomplishments were immediately discoverable by search engine? This is a trade-off actors and athletes and politicians make regularly. David Arquette has every reason to be proud of his resume, yet still cautions his kids: Don't Google Daddy!
