History of English

Kevin Stroud found a novel way to blend history with linguistics. Who cares about those old kings? Well, in Kevin’s exposition you do; very much so. It all is about English, but also about history.

I’m hooked

Just finished episode 4, where he explains how the ancestral indo-European language, which preceded modern languages as diverse as English and Sanskrit, has been reconstructed. In the coming episodes he’ll review many of these ancient words, which were never written down, and which nobody had uttered for several thousands of years. Just amazing.
