HSG Ep. 13: Dr. Thomas H. Marshburn

Find out what it's like to eat in space - and to poop in space - and SO much more.  Physician and NASA astronaut Dr. Thomas H. Marshburn answers YOUR questions on this episode of The Hungry Stuntgirl.  Dr. Thomas H. Marshburn holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Davidson College, North Carolina; a Masters in Engineering Physics from the University of Virginia; a Doctorate of Medicine from Wake Forest University; and a Masters in Medical Science from the University of Texas Medical Branch. The North Carolina native is a veteran of two spaceflights, STS‐127 and Expedition 34/35. Prior to becoming an astronaut, Dr. Marshburn served as a Flight Surgeon, assigned to Space Shuttle Medical Operations and to the joint U.S./Russian Space Program and eventually became the Medical Operations Lead for the International Space Station. Selected by NASA in May 2004, he completed astronaut candidate training in February 2006. Training included scientific and technical briefings, intensive instruction in shuttle and International Space Station systems, physiological training, T‐38 flight training, and water and wilderness survival training. He completed his first spaceflight in July 2009, logging more than 376 hours in space, and 18 hours and 59 minutes in three spacewalks. He launched to the International Space Station as a Flight Engineer in December 2012. While onboard the station, he logged more than 146 days in space and 5 hours and 30 minutes of spacewalk time in an emergency spacewalk.   And if THAT wasn't enough to impress the pants off of you, he also happened to backpacked from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific Crest Trail. HSG Ep. 10: Zoë Bell PART ONE- Tarantino, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Life in New Zealand as an Emerging Stuntwoman

This episode's guest got her big break in New Zealand when she stepped in to be the new stunt double for Lucy Lawless in the series Xena: Warrior Princess. With notoriety from the show, she got on a plane to the US to score her first major film role in the iconic Quintin Tarantino film KILL BILL, parts 1 and 2 as the stunt double for "THE BRIDE" played by Uma Thurman. Her credits following that film include other Tarantino films such as the stuntwoman centric movie Deathproof - where she played her own namesake and was her own stunt double, followed by an avalanche of other major films and television shows including Alias, Inglorious Basterds, The Proposal, Final Destination, Thor: Ragnarok, and making her full stunt coordinating debut WHILE also acting in the Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood where she (ironically) played the part of the stunt coordinator's wife opposite Kurt Russell. She has expanded her extremely successful career as one of Hollywoods top stuntwomen to include actress, producer and now director.  She recently spearheaded and directed the viral quarantine video "Boss Bitch Fight Challenge" and has stunt coordinated AND acted in the upcoming film "Haymaker." Not only is this person undoubtedly one of the most hard working, talented women I've ever met, she has a heart of gold, and stomach of steel. Her kindness and character know no bounds, and she continues to inspire and educate the next generation of women in this business with her candidness and desire to connect and collaborate.  She puts ketchup on her pizza, and beans on her toast. I am more than thrilled to introduce to you, my personal inspiration, Zoe Bell. www.pittstonketchup.com Discount Code at checkout: HUNGRYSTUNTGIRL *Music Composed and performed by Colin Bell*
