The I in Us with Richard Bradley and Candice Cody 30 October 2025

On this episode of The I in Us we welcomed two champions of our community, Director of Australian X and Y Sex Chromosome Support Group (AXYS) Richard Bradley (47XXY), and long-time sex chromosome advocate, Candice Cody (47XXY), when they shared their personal experiences of trying to access Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), a government program set up to support people with disability to access services and supports to live life free from barriers. 47XXY (also known as Klinefelter Syndrome) is an innate variation in sex characteristics that usually presents as physical sex characteristic differences, and also, physical, cognitive and psychological challenges, including learning difficulties, cognitive and physiological developmental delays, and neurodiversity. Richard has first-hand experience trying to navigate the NDIS application process for his own needs, and through his own experience and great knowledge of related legislation, has also supported countless parents of 47XXY children to do the same. Candice’s experience of trying to access the NDIS has been extremely challenging and unfortunately continues today. There is nothing like hearing our guests’ lived experiences when trying to bring about positive changes for our community, and this episode is no exception. You are guaranteed to enjoy this episode, and if you like what you hear, please share with your networks, because the more people we reach, the more lives we change.   joy.org.au/theiinus To catch up on last week’s episode of The I in Us with Betsy Driver and Morgan Carpenter, visit https://joy.org.au/theiinus/2025/11/12/the-i-in-us-with-betsy-driver-and-morgan-carpenter-23-october-2025/ ENJOY!
