In this episode of the Brawn Body Podcast, Dan is joined by Dr. Justin Mierzwicki. PT, DPT, GCS to discuss the importance of exercise in the older adult population. The two discuss the role of overloading, weighted vest training, high-intensity resistance training, and more in this population, in addition to applicable points for physical therapists, trainers, and more!
Dr. Mierzwicki is a professor at Lebanon Valley College, where he teaches courses on pathophysiology, physical therapy and exercise intervention in older adults (geriatric) populations, and in inpatient environments. He also teaches and coordinates a variety of selected topics, such as burn management, and is heavily involved in the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. Even with all this going on, Dr. M still makes time for his family, practicing Karate, volunteering, and so much more!
