    According to Edward O Wilson who studies Biophilia, he said that our primal instinct is to be in nature…. So how many problems could we solve if we just got back to the basics of honouring what type of environment we were meant to be in .

    Nature Speeds up healing:

    Nature reduces inflammation and increases immunity :
    In a 2007 study, men taking two hour walks in the woods over a two day period exhibited a 50% increase in levels of natural killer cells—the body's disease fighting agents.

    While more research is needed, some preliminary research is even suggesting possible anti-cancer benefits such as Dr. Li's 2008 study of 13 female nurses on a three-day trip, in which the trip produced anti-cancer proteins and benefits lasting more than 7 days after the trip.  Dr. Li and the scientific community continue to research this exciting potential.

    However, the natural chemicals secreted by evergreen trees, collectively known as phytoncide, have also been associated with improvements in the activity of our frontline immune defenders. Li has measured the amount of phytoncide in the air during the studies and correlated the content to improvements in immune functioning. 
    Being outside reduces cytokines, which are part of the reaction of inflammation in the body,

    Nature gives you hope and elevates mood:

    Nature gives us a sense of connection to self and others-
    Nalin Nadkarin took high risk prison inmates and set up a projector screen playing nature videos while they worked out and noticed an overall increase in behaviour of the in mates, less conflict, elevated mood and reduced stress
    Inmates also reported that they felt as though they were part of something greater and just watching nature movies gave them a sense of purpose

    Psychologist's say nature gives us hope for the following reasons…

    Nature gives us hope because it evokes the emotions of awe which causes our minds to be curious, it stimulates creativity and evokes a sense of wonder and awe
    So many studies are being done on the psychological effects of being in awe and how that creates a sense of safety
    Connecting us back to a greater power which on some psychological level brings a sense of security
    This feeling of smallness and wonder helps people remember there are things bigger than oneself
    The feeling of awe creates curiosity and hope, that maybe things are possible and greater things exist beyond our perceived notions of reality in our mind
    Studies have found that even just having an environment of houseplants, people are more generous and have a deep sense of being taken care of, and understand abundance.
    People who are more submerged in nature tend to have an affinity to commune with others more and have a work together outlook than those who don’t. In fact, the wilderness can make us more civilized.
