Episode 22: “The Way” through the Sacred Gap (Parts 2): Staying in the pain (An apprenticeship story of grief and comfort)
The more we understand Jesus' invitation for the Kingdom life, the more compelling it is. Listen in as Tyler and Aric continue to explore Jesus' compelling vision for Kingdom life through his opening words of his Sermon on the Mount. As we discussed in our previous series, he offers a promise of healing and transformation that frees us from our shadow stories into lives lived more and more fully in the true story and the Kingdom realities that you are loved, you belong, you are chosen, and you have nothing to prove. The difference between those two realities is what we have called The Sacred Gap and once that gap becomes clear, so does an obvious question: "How do I get through that gap?" Well, it turns out there is an answer. The early Kingdom communities of Jesus' apprentices, not coincidentally, referred to themselves as practitioners of "The Way." What "Way" is that? It is "The Way" that Jesus himself taught in the greatest and most compelling sermon ever given.
In this podcast, we look at Jesus' next surprising revelation of "The Way" that he invites us to grieve with him and, in doing that, realize the promise of comfort. It is a promise that is only truly understood through living the experience. And it is in the sharing of each other's stories that we can offer encouragement to others on the narrow road. So in this episode and the next, Aric and Tyler offer the vulnerability of their real time stories of grief and how Jesus is delivering on his promise of comfort and the healing that is coming because of it.

Episode 21: "The Way" through The Sacred Gap (Part 1): What are you doing with your pain? (Suffering and Confession)
The more we understand Jesus' invitation for the Kingdom life, the more compelling it is. As we discussed in our previous series, it is a promise of healing and transformation that frees us from our shadow stories into lives lived more and more fully in the true story and the Kingdom realities that you are loved, you belong, you are chosen, and you have nothing to prove. It is "The Way" that Jesus himself taught in the greatest and most compelling sermon ever given...The Sermon on The Mount.
Listen in as Aric and his brother, Tyler, explore Jesus' vision for Kingdom life and the roadmap he shares to open his famous sermon. Together, each of the "Beatitudes" reveal "The Way" home and reveal our way forward through The Sacred Gap. In this podcast, we look at the first of those Beatitudes and explore the surprising truth that our journey begins with a very important question: "What are you doing with your pain?"

Episode 20: What Story Are You Living? (Part 8) Know Your Enemy (Messages and Agreements)
Listen in as Aric and Pete conclude the series What Story Are You Living?
We have come a long way and in this final discussion, we build on the idea of divine rebellion. As we have discussed, the experience of the true story is something that is very opposed. Which means we have to learn to fight an enemy who is relentlessly on the prowl to steal, kill, and destroy and keep us stuck in our shadow stories. Resistance, then, is essential in this journey of healing and transformation. However, as good as it is to learn to resist, there is one more idea that actually opens the door to taking the fight to our enemy...to launch an offensive in the fight for our hearts and the promise of living out of the true story. Let's get to know our enemy even more as we look at how he seizes on key moments of vulnerability in our lives to tailor his lies to our story. He does this through messages that paint a skewed picture of reality that feels very very real, and he leverages those messages to get what he ultimately wants...agreement with him. We can do so much more than resist. The good news about agreements is that, because of Jesus, they can be broken. In this hopeful finale, Pete and Aric share their own experiences in how to turn the tables and take the fight to our enemy.

Episode 19: What Story Are You Living? (Part 7b) Practicing Divine Rebellion During the Holidays
Christmas is here. With the season comes a familiar echo of deeper things...things that are abstract and difficult to name but our hearts still know that we long for. But for so many of us, the Christmas season comes and goes, as the mad rush of the season sweeps us along yet again, and we're left wondering what happened. Listen in as Pete and Aric get very practical this Christmas season. This is a time where all that has been discussed in the series can come together at a time of year when our enemy and the world around us conspires to rob us of the goodness that we all want to experience this Christmas. It is in the practice of divine rebellion that we can push through the noise and madness to come back to the heart of our Heavenly Father and reclaim the joy and wonder of the season.
This is the second half of that conversation.

Episode 17: What Story Are You Living? (Part 6) Wounding and Our Relationship with Pain
Listen in as Aric continues the discussion around the question "What Story Are You Living? In the last episode, we introduced the idea of divine rebellion. In this episode, you are invited to ramp up that rebellion as we go further into the rabbit hole and learn that healing that leads to freedom is found not by running from pain but by moving toward it. What will you do with your pain? Our discussions have built to an important crossroads...a crossroads that requires a fundamental transformation of our relationship with pain.

Great way to dive deep
This podcast is a fantastic resource on the path to look at our journey as fathers, as sons, and as followers of Jesus. The host takes great care in making sure topics are thoroughly explored by drawing from current culture, biblical scripture, and real life experiences. I would recommend that listeners make sure to be prepared to look inside the deepest (and sometimes darkest) parts of themselves to maximize the benefits of what these episodes offer.
