S7 Ep. 301 Michael Weiss Podcast - CEO Ready to Ride

S7 Ep. 301 Michael Weiss Podcast - CEO Ready to Ride

I have known Michael Weiss for quite some time through his day job with UCF Incubator as a manager over two incubator sites.  What I didn’t know is that he is an entrepreneur, graduated with hospitality as his field of study, and that he has quite a bit of knowledge and experience in the sports industry.  When I asked him what his five words are that defined him, he shared that he likes to have fun. One of the short stories he shared was about a new minor league basketball team that he had a job with. He had the opportunity to come up with slogans and his idea was selected. The team was the Pitbulls, and the slogan that was a “slam dunk” (pun intended) was "Meet the Pitbulls unleashed".
Michael is interesting because he works every day with startup founders and is a wealth of knowledge and demonstrates his desire to help others achieve greatness.  His startup is Room Rite and he decided to launch when he identified a problem when planning a family reunion. He noticed there were very few hotels that offered affordable room rates. The hotels were overpriced and had little inventory.  Michael wondered how often hotels have rooms that are not picked up during conferences.  Taking you to the end of this first chapter of his startup journey. He won 4th place at the Rollins College Venture Competition and received an equity free $5,000 prize.
Please tune in to hear his interview and learn more about what he thinks the hospitality industry will look like in 2030.

S7 Ep. 300 Emily Walker - An SME Sharing the Value of 5 Pillars of Personal Branding

S7 Ep. 300 Emily Walker - An SME Sharing the Value of 5 Pillars of Personal Branding

Emily Walker is a vibrant woman that believes that using color in your wardrobe says a lot about your personal and business brand.  For those that can see her picture on the thumbnail or in our social feeds you will better understand what I mean by that.
I kicked off the show by asking my guests to describe themself using 5 words.  Two of these words she selected were the epitome of her essence. Because she was raised in a challenging home situation, resilience is an important word that she believed saved her from being a negative statistic.  As a single parent that lived in Section 8 Housing she had to overcome challenges in life. School was a safe place because of the learning opportunities and establishing friendships. The second she selected was determined.  Her belief is that this ties to resilience because she was able to overcome obstacles in her life. She gives more details in the interview and we invite you to hear more about her personal story there.
Emily is launching a new workshop called the Five Pillars of Personal Branding as part of her signature workshops. Be sure to listen and reach out to her to learn more.

S7 Ep. 299 Rey Ortega - Wicked Smart SME in AI Technologist & Man of Integrity

S7 Ep. 299 Rey Ortega - Wicked Smart SME in AI Technologist & Man of Integrity

Rey Ortega is an incredibly smart, well-read, and self-taught programming engineer that is driven to help others reach their goals and potential. His mentoring advice to others is “Make sure you do a deep dive and become a problem solver. Apply this in everything you want to learn. If you don’t know your stuff, people will know you don’t know what you are doing.” Wise words, right?
We talked quite a bit about AI and how it can be used with impact both positively and negatively.  From a technical perspective, what worries him about 2030 is that a lot of technology will take over things that people used to do. People will feel disenfranchised and left behind. Humans are important, it is bothersome low code, no code solutions, someone has to own the data and it may not be you the owner of an idea. Listeners, dive into this episode and you won’t be disappointed. Reach out to Rey on Linkedin to hire his company, have him speak about AI in the Future, or have a cup of coffee with him. He is the real deal.

S7 Ep. 298 Adam Lewis Walker - Secrets from a TEDx Expert

S7 Ep. 298 Adam Lewis Walker - Secrets from a TEDx Expert

As a previous TEDx Orlando organizer and leader, I am asked a lot about how to land a TEDx speaking opportunity. I thought it best to bring an expert that can share that knowledge with us. I know Adam Lewis Walker from one of my favorite events - Podfest. He has been exhibiting and speaking at that event for years. Adam helps authors, coaches, consultants, and speakers become the thought leader in their niche via his TalkXcelerator method to land and deliver TEDx talks that amplify impact and authority.
In this episode you will learn more about the TEDx process and some inside tips about landing a talk. His 5 words that describe are interesting. 1) Relentlessness, 2) Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning change for the better or continuous improvement, 3) Pole vaulter shooting for the Olympics, 4) Family, 5) Legacy .The Kaizen concept is an interesting term that makes one pause and realize the value of continuous improvement and a definite ice breaker conversation starter.
His book, entitled “Awaken Your Alpha,'' focuses on awareness, action, and ascension. You can find his book on Amazon. There is a press release about to publish a list of thought leaders Marquis Whos Who in America and Adam was thrilled to be recognized and receive an award.
His best mentoring advice came from his book. Ikigai is a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. Similar to a venn diagram, this diagram shows ikigai as the convergence of four areas of life: what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. The very center, where each area overlaps, is your ikigai – your reason for getting up and where you should focus your efforts to find ultimate fulfillment.

S7 Ep. 297 Dr. Daniel Pavlik Jr. - Holistic vs. Western Healthcare & the Future of “Healthycare”

S7 Ep. 297 Dr. Daniel Pavlik Jr. - Holistic vs. Western Healthcare & the Future of “Healthycare”

I was in a car accident back in November 2023 and had to seek medical treatment for whiplash. I was referred to Pavlik Center for Health and Wellness and met Dr. Jae and also Dr. Dan Jr. (most of the docs go by Dr. and their first name).
Dr. Dan is an expert in his field of chiropractic care. His 5 words that describe him are “Laid Back, Born to Heal.”  On this episode we talked about the use of laser and light therapy, maybe x-ray vision that allows a person to be scanned with x-ray glasses rather than an MRI or X-Ray machine. He also shared the most common misconceptions about chiropractic care and dispels those fears with truth.
Tune in to hear more about his thoughts of what Healthy Care looks like now and what treatment might look like in 2030.  His thought leader is his father, Dr. Dan Pavlik, Sr., who founded Pavlik Center who encouraged him during his career journey to Think Outside the Box and helped him develop a mindset of providing the best care possible to his patients.

Future of Learning with John Shulman

In my opinion, this was the best episode out of the three I listened to. The speaker gave so many precious “gems” of wisdom and advice. In addition, I loved the engagement with the guest speaker and the intern. This podcast episode is more of a dialogue rather than an interview, which I think is a strategy that can be used to attract younger listeners.

Lastly, I appreciated that he gave book recommendations and resources to cultivate skills for adult learning.
