    - A study of swearing habits in Canada, Britain and the United States suggests Canadians are the most likely to curse while conversing with friends. The poll found 56 percent of Canadian respondents admitted to using profanity on a regular or occasional basis while talking to friends, compared with 51 percent in Britain and 46 percent in the United States.
    Scientists (University College London) have used a mathematical equation to accurately predict the happiness of more than 18,000 people around the world. The formula for happiness, according to the equation, depends on whether things are better than expected, and not just on how well things are going. People felt happiest when they performed better than expected on a risk-reward task.
    America’s willingness to be vaccinated for COVID-19 has hit a new low. Data from a Yahoo News/YouGov Poll shows roughly two in five (42%) U.S. adults say they will get vaccinated if and when one becomes available, down seven points from 55 percent on May 6.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: 12-YEAR-OLD KICKS INTRUDER BETWEEN THE LEGS _ A 12-year-old UK girl discovered a burglar in her family’s kitchen and drove him off with the only weapon she had on her. The girl said she heard a door slam while she was alone in her family’s house and discovered the stranger standing in the kitchen. She says when the intruder smiled at her she thought, “I do not want him thinking I am just a helpless little girl.” Her solution was to kick the crook between the legs — very hard. She said he was groaning as he fled.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: DETAINED ‘DRUG SMUGGLER’ CAT ESCAPES PRISON _ A cat detained at Sri Lanka’s main prison while allegedly trying to smuggle in drugs and cell phone SIM cards has escaped. The feline was detected by jail intelligence officials on Saturday at the high-security Welikada Prison. Nearly two grams of heroin, two SIM cards and a memory chip were found in a small plastic bag tied around the cat’s neck. But it escaped on Sunday from a prison room where it was kept.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: RESTAURANT SORRY AS CUSTOMER FINDS DEEP-FRIED MOTH IN HIS TAKEAWAY MEAL _ A chicken fan in England got a creepy surprise in his Nando’s order as a deep fried moth was among the fries. Pictures show the crispy critter at the bottom of the fry box, fried to a perfect crunch along with the potato snacks. The restaurant chain was forced to apologize and a Nando’s spokesperson said the company “regrets any distress this event caused”.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: ROBBER WITH BIG HONKER _ It wasn’t a big gun or knife that caught the eye of an armed thief’s victim in Austria. Instead, the bandit’s protruding nose left its mark. Police issued an alert for residents to be on the lookout for a man with a big nose in his mid-20s or early 30s after he held up a gas station. The cashier who was robbed told authorities the thief was rather plain, except for his big honker.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: MAN HOLDS UP STORE, GETS ONLY UNDERWEAR _ A man held up a clothing store in Germany. Too bad for hims there was almost no cash in the register. That, however, was not enough to stop the determined man and he demanded underwear instead. According to the owner of the store the thief escaped with about $188 worth of assorted undergarments.

    - Walmart+, the company’s Amazon Prime competitor, is expected to launch this month at an annual subscription price at $98 per year. The service will reportedly include same-day delivery of groceries and fuel discounts among other perks. The service could also include access to exclusive deals and shopping events before the general public, as well as automated checkout at Walmart stores
    - Though Walmart is requiring customers to wear face masks in all of its stores, the chain, like many others, will not require employees to enforce this policy and has instructed associates to still serve customers who do not wear masks. CVS, Walgreens, Lowe’s, and Home Depot are among those that have said they will not prevent mask-less shoppers from shopping in their stores, citing fears that these shoppers will get violent or otherwise harass these workers.
    A new study (by US Food) reveals that 28 percent of delivery drivers have taken food from a customer’s order.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: GARDEN GNOMES KEEP MYSTERIOUSLY VANISHING _ Neighbors in Victoria, British Columbia, are keeping a closer eye on their gardens following a string of garden gnome thefts in the quiet neighborhood. Heather Boggs said she realized several of her gnomes had been stolen last Friday when she went to tend to her garden and saw empty spaces where she would normally find her gnomes.
    … Luckily the gnome-snatcher was caught in the act as Boggs’ doorbell camera filmed the kidnapping as it happened. The footage shows a male removing three gnomes from Boggs’ porch before fleeing into the night. She described the gnome thief as a six-foot-tall male with a hair in a ponytail, wearing socks with sandals.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: DRIVER CAUGHT AFTER UPLOADING SPEEDING VIDEOS _ A man in China looking to show off his driving skills had his license revoked after he uploaded videos of himself speeding and driving aggressively. The man uploaded a total 32 videos that showed him weaving through traffic at high speeds and driving in emergency lanes.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: POLICE ESCORT NUDE MAN FROM GROCERY STORE _ Police in Germany were called to deal with a naked man inside a grocery store. When cops arrived, they found a 61-year-old man near the meat department lying on the floor. The man was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
     WACKY-BUT-TRUE: REPORT OF SHOTGUN TURNS OUT TO BE DIDGERIDOOS _ Officers in the UK got a call about a man on a bridge carrying a shotgun. After a search the man was located. Officers reported that he did not have a shotgun — he was carrying two didgeridoos.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: NEIGHBORS CONFRONT WOMAN FOR CARRYING INFANT UPSIDE DOWN _ A woman in China has upset her neighbors because of the way she walks her granddaughter around the neighborhood. The local residents are upset because she routinely carries her baby granddaughter upside down on walks. She says she does this to make her grow taller.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: FINGER CUT OFF, WENT FOR 40 MILE RIDE _ Doctors in Germany managed to reattach a man’s finger after it was severed by a train door and ended up 40 miles away. The man was boarding the train when the door closed unexpectedly on his hand and he was unable to stop it to get his finger back.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: UNDERWEAR THIEF STEALS FROM FRIEND _ A man in the UK is accused of breaking into the home of a female acquaintance to steal her shoes and underwear. When police found the items in his car, the man initially said the clothing belonged to him. Prosecutors say the man admitted to stealing the clothes because he has a fetish and could not help himself.

    It’s a common feeling: you rush out of the house, late for work or to meet a friend, only to be struck by the fear that you forgot to turn your iron off. If you regularly get the feeling you left a particular appliance on, Lifehacker.com suggests snapping a quick photo of it before you leave the house. Do you often think you a burner on after making breakfast? Before you head out the door snap a pic if the knobs in the office position; should the feeling hit you on the way to work you can just glance at your phone as a reminder that all is well at home.
    For the millions of workers stuck at home through the coronavirus pandemic, the idea of moving to a Caribbean island for a year sounds like a dream. But now it could become a reality. Barbados is planning to introduce a 12-month visa that would allow remote workers to swap cramped city apartments for the island’s white sandy beaches, blue sea and year-round sunshine. The scheme, known as the “Barbados Welcome Stamp,” is due to be launched in August and will be open to anyone earning more than $50,000. The scheme is designed to provide a much-needed boost to the island’s tourist-dependent economy, while capitalizing on the shift in work patterns driven by the coronavirus pandemic… The Barbados Welcome Stamp would give visitors the right to work in the country for up to a year, regardless of where their employer is based. It’s expected to cost $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a family visa — irrespective of how many children that family has. Participants in the scheme will be required to take out health insurance.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: FAMILY FINDS HONEY DRIPPING FROM THE WALLS _ A Pennsylvania family was dealing with a few thousand uninvited, messy house guests this week. The Isabell family (in Perkasie) discovered they had a big bee problem. On Friday night, after Tropical Storm Fay moved through the area, the family found dark stains dripping down their walls. They assumed it was storm damage, but got closer to see for themselves. It was sticky. And it smelled like honey. And that’s what it was. The Isabells said they did a little detective work and traced the bees to the top of the house. They had seen a rogue bee now and then near the attic, but never thought much of it. They called in The Bee Man who came out for a thermal scan and an assessment. He came back later to extract the colony.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: DRIVER LOST CAR DURING DRUNKEN BENDER _ A Minneapolis resident is without wheels after he (or she) misplaced their 2007 Toyota Camry during a night out partying. A user on reddit posted: “I got too drunk, parked my car, and rode with a friend. We think it’s somewhere in the northern parts of Hennepin County, parked on a residential street.” The poster lists a number to call if the wayward Toyota is spotted and offers an unspecified reward. The reddit user says by riding with a friend “I may have saved your life or your child’s. But now I can’t find my car.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: OPOSSUM FOUND STUCK IN SNAPPLE BOTTLE _ The Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia is reminding residents to properly dispose of trash and recycling after a small opossum was found stuck inside a Snapple bottle. This comes as trash pickup in the city has recently been delayed and has become a problem. Luckily, protection officers safely freed the animal.     WACKY-BUT-TRUE: MAN SAWS HIS NEIGHBOR’S GARAGE IN HALF _ In Maine, a property dispute led one man to sawing his neighbor’s garage in half. The two neighbors had been in a dispute over the property line for quite a while, however once a land surveyor determined that part of the garage was over the property line, he took a sawzall to the structure, cutting it right in half.

Throughout July, 74-year-old Peter Melegos allegedly tied used condoms to unoccupied vehicles in the parking lots of shopping centers around the city. This week Melegos was was arrested and charged.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: BUS DRIVER PUNISHED FOR ‘PIGS AND DOGS’ SIGNS _ A bus driver in China was fined for posting insulting signs on the backs of seats. His signs read: “Please do not spit and litter … violators are as bad as pigs and dogs.”
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: MUGGER WINS LAWSUIT AGAINST VICTIM _ A mugger was beaten by a man he attempted to rob in China. But the mugging victim has been slapped with two months in criminal detention and a lawsuit. When the mugger failed to rob his victim of a smartphone, the victim and his buddies chased him down and punched and kicked him. The mugger filed a report with police the next day and one of the guys will spend two months in jail.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: POLICEMAN ACCUSED OF STEALING BATTERIES _ Police in Vietnam say one of their officers was punished after he stole batteries from 154 impounded vehicles and motorcycles. The vehicles had been impounded for various traffic violations and the officer decided he’d steal their batteries and re-sell them.

People who reported a brisk walking pace lived longer across all body types; those who reported slower walking paces had a shorter life expectancy.

    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: COP TRIED TO CONCEAL EVIDENCE OF CAR CRASH USING WHITE-OUT _ A Denver police officer has been fired after concealing an unauthorized car chase and filing a false report about the incident in what a superior called “an extraordinary series of bad decisions.” Nicholas Mauro followed an SUV with a broken tail light on November 19, 2019, reaching speeds up to 99 mph but never turned on his lights, siren, or body camera until he crashed into a home. Mauro then reportedly logged a false report claiming that he had simply found the SUV damaged on the side of the road. He also covered up the damage to his own car with white-out. Mauro was caught when the owner of the home he crashed into reported the situation to a corporal and her account did not align with his.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: MAN LOSES ARM-WRESTLING MATCH WITH SON, PULLS GUN _ An arm-wrestling contest between a Kentucky father and son turned violent. Boone County authorities say 55-year-old Curtis Zimmerman was intoxicated when he challenged his son to an arm-wrestling competition. When Zimmerman lost multiple times, he became “agitated” and got into a physical fight with his son. Zimmerman grabbed a gun and fired two shots into the ceiling while his son was going upstairs. No one was injured but the incident led to an 8-hour standoff with deputies.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: TRUCKER FENDS OFF A VENOMOUS SNAKE AT 70 MPH ON BUSY HIGHWAY _ An Australian trucker successfully fought off a highly venomous snake while traveling at 70 miles per hour along a busy highway. Police stopped the 27-year-old man because they thought he was speeding. But the terrified trucker explained to cops that he was using a knife and seatbelt to fend off an eastern brown snake, which had infiltrated the driver’s cab and started to wrap around him. Police found the serpent coiled in the back of the truck’s cab.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: 450-POUND MAN TRIES TO HIDES DRUGS IN HIS STOMACH FAT _ A Florida man who weighs about 450 pounds faces multiple charges after sheriff’s deputies say he hid cocaine and 23 grams of marijuana under his stomach fat. A sheriff’s deputy (in Volusia County) stopped a vehicle Friday after noticing that the passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Officials say 42-year-old Christopher Mitchell told the deputy that he’s too big to wear a seatbelt. The deputy says he requested a drug-detecting dog because Mitchell and the driver appeared nervous. The dog detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle. In addition to the drugs on Mitchell, deputies say they also found a handgun and $7,000 in c

    - Public health experts overwhelmingly agree that one of the best ways to slow the spread of the coronavirus is to wear a mask. Still, some people see masks as a threat to personal freedom. Some are going so far as to print and carry face mask exemption cards, supposedly being handed out by various government agencies. The Department of Justice says these cards are fake.

    - DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CHANGE A TIRE?
    A survey has some pretty sad news when it comes to women and tire knowledge.
    • One in three women don’t know how to change a flat tire — only 4% of men don’t know how.
    • 4% of women don’t know where the spare tire is located.
    • 33% of women call their significant other after getting a flat tire before calling a tow service — 73% of men change their own tires.
    • More than half of women never check the condition of their spare tire, or the tread on their other tires.
    • 22% of women said they had no idea how to find out the pressure in their tires.


    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: PAKISTAN GROUNDS THIRD OF PILOTS FOR HAVING FAKE LICENSES _ Having a fake driver’s license is bad, but it’s not likely the driver could kill hundreds of people with one wrong move. Pakistan’s national airline has grounded almost a third of its pilots after a government investigation revealed that hundreds across the country had fake licenses and were not qualified to fly.
    … In a letter to the government Friday, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said 141 of its 450 pilots will not be “utilized for any flying duties” as they had “suspicious licenses.”
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: WISCONSIN FAMILY SAVES BEAR SWIMMING WITH HEAD STUCK IN BIN _ Tricia and Brian Hurt and their son Brady were fishing on a lake in western Wisconsin’s Chippewa County the other day when they came across what they first thought was a swimming dog. They soon realized, though, that it was a young bear with a clear plastic cheese ball container stuck on its head.     WACKY-BUT-TRUE: DOORBELL CAMERA CATCHES PARKING LOT BIRTH IN FLORIDA _ A Florida birthing center (in Margate) says an expectant mother was a few steps from entering the building but her baby couldn’t wait. She gave birth while standing up outside, with a midwife catching the baby and a doorbell camera catching all the action. Both baby and mother are doing fine.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: BURGLARS JUMP BADLY _ In Spain two men were arrested for burglary by officers responding to an emergency call. The suspects’ getaway ended abruptly when, as they leaped off of a low balcony, the 17-year-old landed on top of the 22-year-old and suffered a badly sprained ankle, while leaving his colleague with a fractured skull, broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a collapsed lung.
    WACKY-BUT-TRUE: COUPLE DONATES 13-FOOT PYTHON TO ZOO _ An elderly couple in China donated their Burmese python snake to a zoo. The couple said the 13-foot snake became too heavy to carry on walks. The couple used to take the 110-pound snake on daily walks using a customized cart.

    WOMAN WITH TWO WOMBS CARRYING A TWIN IN EACH -It’s enough of a shock to find you are pregnant with twins. It’s an even greater shock to find you are carrying twins in two different uteruses. That happened recently to a British woman. When Kelly Fairhurst went for her 12-week scan she learned she had uterus didelphys, a condition where a woman has two wombs. She was also told she was carrying twins, one in each womb. Fairhurst, who was also surprised to be told she had two cervixes, already has two daughters, ages three and four.

I was hooked from my first listen! Jason and Mindy are so personable and fun and the layout of the show is creative and entertaining! Plus, the live show is so great and interactive! I’ve learned a lot of interesting random facts that I’m sure I’ll put to good use at bar trivia someday.👌🏻

Ok, so maybe not the orthodox type of education you get in school, but you learn a lot of useless information that you can sprinkle into casual conversation. Jason and Mindy have great chemistry and comedic timing and the segments are great!
