From NFL Pro to Yogi Master teaching at the US Capital with Keith Mitchell and Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP#7

Keith Mitchell went from NFL Pro to Master Yogi. He spent 8 years as a professional NFL linebacker until a paralyzing spinal contusion put a sudden end to his career. He says, “I have two mentalities – I have an understanding of what I know now and I have an understanding of what I knew then. With football, it was all more centred around anger and validation and now I understand the reasons why." He shares his emotional journey from a sudden change in identity and dealing with depression into yoga, spirituality and bringing consciousness to this world… especially to athletes, veterans... and the US Capital!

Daring to Suck in Front of 50,000 People with The Brothers Koren and Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP #3

Daring to Suck in Front of 50,000 People with The Brothers Koren and Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP #3

I first met The Brothers Koren (Isaac and Thorald) a number of years ago at a conference. It was one of those connections that was immediate, deep, and filled with joy. They are musicians and transformational teachers around the voice. In the first part of their career as musicians, they were signed to Interscope and toured with Pink and Coldplay and Rod Stewart, performing in 50,000 seat arenas around the world. But a deeper call led them to create the Songwriter's Journey, helping others “dare to suck,” reclaiming their voice, creativity and power. We talk about stepping off the pop celebrity train and into their true calling.

Blue Eyed, Brown Eyed Inventor & Anti-Racism Expert, Jane Elliot with Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP #2

Blue Eyed, Brown Eyed Inventor & Anti-Racism Expert, Jane Elliot with Jeffrey Van Dyk - EP #2

Jane Elliott went from a 3rd grade school teacher in Riceville, Iowa to one of the world’s most recognized lecturers on race. The day after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. In April 1968, she changed her 3rd grade lesson plan to what she became known for -  her ‘Blue eyes/Brown eyes” exercise. It exposes prejudice and bigotry for what it is - an irrational class system based upon purely arbitrary factors. She has since led this exercise in civic and corporate settings for many decades, highlighting the arbitrary and irrational basis of prejudice, an issue that Americans continue to grapple with more than five decades after she started. She’s a real firecracker with a huge heart and an unapologetic voice that’s on full display in this conversation!

Humanity’s new story

I’ve been following Jeffrey van Dyk’s work for over a decade so I was thrilled when this podcast dropped. I’ve been listening during my morning walks and have found myself deeply engaged by the intimacy and depth of the conversations he’s having with his guests some of which were new to me. Jeffrey’s own skills of listening and receiving information puts him apart from other podcast interviewers. His intuition, truth telling and perspective in his questioning guides the guests to deeper and even surprising places. I appreciate the golden threads he pulls out and how he weaves the wisdom together. He really is helping humanity to write a new story. When I listen to this podcast I feel like it’s helping me to see that I’m part of it too. I have aha moments from each podcast/ sometimes stopping to write them into my phone. I feel more hopeful, courageous and inspired which is needed in these times.

Lovely glimpse at fantastic people

How fun! This podcast is a delightful glimpse into the life experiences and motivational worldview of some very interesting folks. I always wonder about the lives of others and what motivates and inspires them… these rich stories expand my own human experience.

Warriors Of Light

Wow! It was amazing listening to the 5th episode of The JVD Show with J.R. Martinez, the war veteran and burn survivor who is now a public figure and servant leader. This episode was special to me because I relate with J.R. on so many levels. From humble beginnings, religion, war, combat wounds, spirituality, rebirth, resilience, wisdom, and service. Thank you Jeffrey for asking the unique and profound questions that brought out the extraordinary story, wisdom, and personality of J.R. Not only did I get to relate but I also learned some new things about myself, and new tools to take on my journey as a veteran and servant leader. Looking forward to listening to the other episodes of The JVD Show.
