Relistening this week and really wish it could be remastered to raise Katnis’s voice, particularly in the third season, and lower the comparative volume of the credits. Otherwise this production holds up extremely well against later professional US audio dramas. I appreciate the effort to cast each speaker with a distinct voice / accent / speech patterns. Even some of the best production companies today miss that detail, which is crucial for audio dramas. They’ve added many great touches to make the Hunger Games books work in audio format, while retaining the original text. Most of the acting is great, the music is great. It’s a good long listen, too. I’m really glad I found this.

If I had not known that this was fan-made, I would have taken this as an official, professional, BBC Radio 4 radio drama. I love the audiobooks, I love the movies but this is something special. It doesn’t rely on/copy the movies and it honors the book even when it adds things that weren’t in the book. The acting is superb. The attention to dialects is respectful and realistic. I don’t know if the author has heard this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this was closer to her vision of the story created than any other Hunger Games adaptation.

Fantastically true to the source material as well as making wonderful and compelling artistic and adaptational choices. In my opinion, excelled in many places where the films floundered, especially when it comes to fleshing out the relationships. Amazing audio drama. Love it forever.
