Kwam
A devotion to the experience of black women in South Africa.
So often the experience of black women is monolithic. We are described as strong as if we can expend without breaking. We are described as aggressive as if we thunder without rain. But we are more than descriptions that we never subscribed to.
Kwam – a conversation from two dynamic voices Nqobile and Lindie who do not account for everyone but offer more colour to a description of us, black women in the diaspora.
Listen to Kwam every week – to laugh, to think, to engage, to wonder but mostly to have a girlfriend in your ears after a long day wherever and whenever.

You Owe Yourself Money
“Having a partner is never an excuse as a woman to never know what’s going on with you financially” @setwice
We interviewed our girl Sethu about managing your finances and she dropped some gems! We talked about financial debt, trauma and recovery. Often we have a lot of shame about accumulating debt and getting out of debt. Money is not the only thing that makes the world go round - assets, connections, planning and discussions also play a part. So this week join us as we talk about financial trauma, financial recovering and we look forward by discussing financial planning and investment tips! So please listen to the last minute because it will be worth it. As always rate, review and subscribe. -
Kwam Interview - A Dog Is A Girl's Best Friend
Do you have a dog or have you ever considered getting a dog? We recently noticed that some of our friends are either becoming plant or pup moms. So we invited our girl, Mantwa to talk about her journey. From dogs worth R34 000 to discovering that dogs also get their period, this week we discuss black girls adopting or buying a dog. The highlights to the pitfalls and all the parts we hadn’t considered. So give this episode a listen and share your pup stories (whether you have one or want one)! We love you for listening #LoveKwam

No Loans, No problems
If money makes the world go round then does lending it make go faster or slower? It can certainly slow down the progress of a relationship. It is all roses and endless sunshines until a dear friend cannot pay you back money as promised. The drama of following up and unanswered calls. You were a great friend when you borrowed your cousin the money but now you are a villain! This week’s episode discusses the scrounge of money in our friendships, relationships and within family. Is it time to set boundaries around money lending? Will your next answer when asked for money be “sorry friend, perhaps an overdraft or a personal loan at the bank?” Join us and let’s discuss. #LoveKwam

Embrace Your Agency
Another week and another episode, are you still listening? Women are often celebrated for being independent or pursuing independence but what about agency. What is agency? Do you have agency over yourself? Does it even matter? This week we are talking about thinking and embracing agency over your life. I don’t know about you but Nqo and Lindie have decided to be independent women with agency over their lives. Give a little listen and maybe you do too. As always rate, review and subscribe. #LoveKwam
