    Ep. 15 - Rajiv Satyal

    Ep. 15 - Rajiv Satyal

Rajiv Satyal grew up being, as he describes it, the modern version of a nerd. It was his sense of humor that saved him from the bullies. His comedy credits are a wikipedia dream – he is the only comedian who has ever performed on all seven continents (yes that includes Antartica), he has opened for Tim Allen, Sebastian Maniscalco, Jo Koy, Kevin Nealon, Dave Chappelle, Russell Peters and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in front of 17,000 people. He was sent by the US State Department to perform stand up in India as a 'laughter for peace' like mission.  Perhaps it was this credit along with his wisdom, kindness and willingness to be the butt of a joke to serve the greater cause of laugher that made me feel like I was hanging with the 'Comedy Gandhi.'

Ep. 14 - BONUS EPISODE - Morris May

In this weeks BONUS EPISODE  we get to hear from the fascinating Morris May who is CEO of Specular Theory one of the most innovative and exciting companies working in VR and immersive technologies today. He went from being a kid who pulled apart house hold items to make hover craft, with no interest in socializing with other kids and was told by a teacher, who clearly knew nothing about dyslexia – that he would never go to college or amount to anything and he moved to Hollywood to work in visual effects on some of the biggest movies ever made including two Oscar winners and now is working on making our world a better place through the magic of virtual reality.

    Ep. 13 - Sammy Obeid

    Ep. 13 - Sammy Obeid

Sammy Obeyed holds the world record for longest streak of consecutive comedy performances - 1001 days  - of stand up. He has performed on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Food Network’s Throwdown with Bobby Flay and is a member of CoExist Comedy and Axis of Evil: Next Generation and his debut album, Get Funny or Die Trying, was also named a Best Comedy Album of 2013 by iTunes.  Best of all, he is a mathematician! He majored in Math in college, taught math to rebellious teens, used his math skills in a brief career selling drugs (don’t try that at home kids!) and has now made a healthier- and less illegal career-  telling math jokes. It was a joy to interview Sammy – getting to learn mathematical equations that involve gratitude, explore how his recent neurological challenges  (that were misdiagnosed as MS)  have caused him to question his core identity and celebrate how comedy is helping him heal.

    Ep.12 - James Russell

    Ep.12 - James Russell

This week’s guest is James Russel the gifted political/social satirists who’s sketch video are gaining popularity and praise across the internet. It was James’ Instagram bio that caused me to reach out to him– The first word: #bipolar. I just knew I had to talk to this comedian who is claiming their mental disorder and using their platform to normalize their condition, educate others and make other folks living with Bipolar feel less alone.  The awareness, grace and candor with which James speaks of his challenges and his vulnerability – talking through being 5150’d just a few years ago, being cyberbullied as a teen and how comedy has helped him through all of these dark moments is inspiring and so important for people to hear. So although we opted not to go a laugh a second with our chat I am so grateful that James came and shared so much of him with us. I should accordingly warn you up front that this episode touches on sensitive triggering issues such a cutting, eating disorders and psychiatric breaks please turn us off if now is not a good time to be listening to this and please reach out to someone for support or to me georgia@laughfactory.com if you need help – we are here for you and you are not alone.

    Ep.11 - Bonus episode - Darryl Davis

    Ep.11 - Bonus episode - Darryl Davis

This week’s bonus episode guest is the beautiful soul Darryl Davis who’s childhood was riddled with all the traumas no child should ever have to face; suffering abuse physically, verbally and emotionally, so much so that he avoided all humans and instead made friends with animals and nature. And yet, as you will hear and feel today, he is a beacon of joy, love, laughter and has a job that people around the world would die to have, even for just one day - and I’m not talking about when he worked in lesbian porn.
