Hi, we’re Laura and Jonathan, unorthodox leadership coaches.

We are so so so bored with the same old conversations about what it takes to be a great leader. They have gotten us to where we are, but won’t take us to where we need to go.

Join us as we explore two riddles we’re absolutely obsessed with: “what the HECK is leadership?” and “what does it take to BE a highly effective leader?” In our attempts to revisit and answer those questions, we will detail tools, tips and topics all in the name of bridging The Leadership Gap.

This is not just another leadership podcast.

    In this episode, we cover:

    - What self-regulation is
    - What self-regulation is NOT

    Ep 10: EQ Part 1: Self-Awareness

    Ep 10: EQ Part 1: Self-Awareness

Did you know there are two kinds of self-awareness? You're probably familiar with the kind of self-awareness that has you identify your strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes. There is also a 2nd kind of self-awareness that often goes ignored. This other kind of self-awareness has you experience the nuances of your body so that you can react in situations more skillfully - a key skill for any leader (and, frankly, human being).

This is part 1 of a series on Emotional Intelligence. The topic: Self-awareness.

    In this episode, we cover:
    - What is emotional intelligence (EQ)?
    - Why is EQ important?
    - What (exactly) is self-awareness?
    - Why is self-awareness foundational to developing EQ?
    - The two kinds of self-awareness
    - How to go about building BOTH kinds of self-awareness

A Truly Enlightening and Empowering Podcast!

Full disclosure--when I first started listening to this podcast, I binged every single episode out there. I couldn't get enough!
Not only did it help expand my mind into learning better ways to communicate with others, it offered a glimpse into myself. Since starting this podcast, my relationship with myself has become more positive, supportive, and self-encouraging.
I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who could improve their communication skills (which I think applies to everyone!). You will learn how to talk about difficult subjects, to look into yourself for a better understanding of your habits, and you'll feel empowered to go forth into the world communicating more mindfully and with further compassion for life.
