With the movie over it’s time for another season, sadly the final season of the show. But we have eight great episodes to look forward to!

We’re having a wonderful vacation to Tofoten! It’s great to have met Hilda’s great-aunt Astrid, and her neighbor the Pooka too. (Hey, his desire to not eat an egg sent the team on a great adventure, and as an added bonus, he can squirm like a live plooka. If you know you know.)

As far as cliffhangers go, Hilda being turned into a troll at the end of the second season rated quite highly. Now that we’re discussing the movie, it’s finally time to discuss how that turned out.

We find ourselves living in a world where the political commentary of the movie hits harder than ever (though we haven’t seen any real-world safety patrol officers carrying around assault flashlights just yet), but at least we get a feel-good ending.

How many tropes did you spot in this episode? Because we found quite a few without really even looking. But if having a beautiful song to montage over is wrong, we don’t want our cartoons to be right.

All of the action is done, even a lot of the drama, but that doesn’t mean that the show ran out of ideas. This is all about letting the characters finally grow as they move into the future, and even about a delicious new snack. (Or a meal.)

Does anyone think there’s a lot of magic happening for a world where the source of all magic has been destroyed? Last episode it was just a tornado and a ghost, but now we have a pool and a hatch to add to the list, and a mysterious voice. Add another cliffhanger to the pile.

But whether magical or nonmagical, Oscar will still be there to bring the good vibes. Congratulations son, you redeemed yourself from last episode.

Susie has finally arrived. She’s been the de facto main character of the series for a while, but now that she’s experiencing a story arc she has officially joined the main character club.

Sue and Doug take control of the situation and teach Susie a valuable life lesson, but there’s still a tornado out there and Susie’s going to have to take care of it—while Betsy takes care of Ghost the Boy.

Another series, another baseball episode filled with wacky hijinks—apparently nine innings worth, which is enough to drive anyone to exhaustion. Susie, you are forgiven—especially because at least you used your magic for a better reason than those other knuckleheads.

Thankfully Oscar’s parents aren’t the brightest, or else they really might really have gone to the president.
