Why I Am Trying to Be Less Productive

Why I Am Trying to Be Less Productive

Have you ever got a tension headache because you were too productive?  Me too. These days, it can be hard to put on the brakes. After one too many headaches this year, I did something about it, and I want to share it with you. By doing this little productivity trick, you can say goodbye to those overfunctioning stress headaches. You will also be pleasantly surprised by how simple it is.

Over the past two years, it’s been harder to get going which also means it can be harder to stop once I do get going. If you want to find some good enough balance in your work life, you came to the right place.

    Here’s what we’re getting into:

Why it is important to get ahead of overfunctioning
What I do to ensure that Fridays and Mondays are extra stressfree
Why teaching can’t be a marathon anymore

If you have ever had a stress headache from all the work you’re doing and want to still get things done but not overfunction, you need to listen to this episode. Let’s do it!

How I Stop Trying to Be Right All the Time

How I Stop Trying to Be Right All the Time

Are you tired of trying to convince people that you’re right? Be honest. I will. I for sure am. Trying to convince people of my valid (ahem...right) reasons for doing what I do is exhausting and rarely works. I am going to share a little inspiration that will help you profoundly. You will stop trying to be right and realize how to think again and be okay with even (deep breath) being wrong.

I have recently embraced this practice of what Adam Grant calls “thinking like a scientist” and I want to share it with you. If you are willing to stop being so exhausted from convincing people of your rightness, this one is for you.

    Here’s what we’re getting into:

Noticing the traps we tend to fall into
Naming when we are using way too much energy to be right instead of getting it right
Why even just being willing to think again makes a big difference

If you’re exhausted from trying to convince others of your rightness and awesomeness but don’t know what to do about it, you need to listen to this episode. Let’s do it!

Why I Suck at Gentleness and What I'm Doing About It

Why I Suck at Gentleness and What I'm Doing About It

If I hear one more person (myself included) say “Maybe you just need to be a little more gentle on yourself.” I am going to lose it. I suck at gentleness. Maybe you’re like me and you know that gentleness with yourself and others is so important, but it’s been a struggle lately, I’ve got the episode for you. By doing this one little shift, I have been rocking at being more gentle.

I’ve been working on the whole gentleness thing officially for nine years. I will share with you what I am doing now to make it stick.

    Here’s what we’re getting into:

    What I’ve realized about gentleness
What one little shift I’ve made to make gentleness towards myself actually doable and fun
Why it was so important for me to stop sucking so much at gentleness (and feeling bad about sucking so much!)

If you struggle to be gentle with yourself and are unsure what to do to make gentleness actually happen, you need to listen to this episode. Let’s do it!

The 1 Mindset Hack That Changed My Life

The 1 Mindset Hack That Changed My Life

I hate talking about mindsets.  I needed to say that. I just needed to put it out there. Okay, now that I’ve said that, there is one mindset hack that legit changed my life. I wish I knew this earlier but I am so excited to share it with you now.

I’ve been swimming in mindsets. But honestly, nothing stuck. It all just seemed too basic. It was obvious the people who had a more open mindset and those who didn’t. But upon entering my fourth year of coaching teachers, I had a big ah-ha moment.

    Here’s what we’re getting into:

Understanding that mindsets don’t matter if you do not know your bigger why (just cause, purpose, etc.)
Recognizing that teaching is all about the long game. You can’t win or lose. You can only keep playing.
Realizing why it doesn’t matter if I have my bigger why completely figured out.

If you’re tired of figuring out how to improve your mindset and support others with theirs, you need to listen to the 1 mindset hack that changed my life. Let’s do it!

Boundaries with Your Students are a Must

Boundaries with Your Students are a Must

Not having enough time to do our jobs is one of the burdens of being a teacher. Consequently, it’s essential to guard our limited time and energy with our lives. This is why boundaries with our students are a must.

Boundaries might not be what you think they are, and they may look different with students versus with other adults. Embracing boundaries has been a learning process for me, so I’m excited to share some of my own stories so you can hopefully learn from my mistakes.

Excited to use this tool

I’m thrilled and thankful that Jessi and Joel have put out this tool. What a wonderfully structured way to organize and analyze potentially self-sabotaging thoughts.

Grow Personally and Professionally with The Marigold Force

Jessie and Joel are a dynamic duo. It was a pleasure to spend 45 minutes meditating, reflecting, and learning with them. This podcast may have been created for teachers, but it’s definitely for everyone. No matter our profession, we can all struggle with putting our needs on the back burner and powering through because it’s what we’re “supposed” to do, right? Wrong. This podcast was the reminder I needed to find “me time.”

Rejuvenating and beyond Important!

I LOVE this podcast with Joel and Jessie -- as a teacher I struggle so much to slow down and check in with myself. I put so much pressure on myself and the betterment of my students that I completely forget about myself. Sound familiar fellow educators? I love that this is an interactive podcast that (gently) force me to make space for myself because, dammit, I deserve it. We need more of this across education. <33
