Learning from a Master
Rene brings a deep understanding of a variety of martial arts as well as an academic context from his graduate studies in Japanese Military History to the podcast. He will jump from discussing the minutia of BJJ techniques, to modern Japanese culture and the quotes Clausewitz. But the podcast is anything but high brow. Rene is unforgiving in his evaluation of fighers who disappoint him, and he tortures Matt after Matt loses a bet. The two have a great chemistry, which comes across. Fun listen.
I think this show is the best mma podcast out there right now. There are shows with more famous people but Coach Rene and Matt have just as much knowledge as anyone. More importantly, they explain things better than anyone I know. After listening to 10-15 minutes I knew it was going to be my new favorite show because I really don’t think anyone has the total package that these two have.
