Martian Drive-In Podcast 163 - Gemini Man - Little Monsters

Martian Drive-In Podcast 163 - Gemini Man - Little Monsters

For this episode I go with a movie that was in development hell for 20 years, Ang Lee's Gemini Man starring Will Smith, Will Smith and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, then it's zombies and rug rats with the 2019 Australian film, Little Monsters starring Lupita Nyong'o and Josh Gad.

Martian Drive-In Podcast 162 - Netflix Binges and Bushfires

Martian Drive-In Podcast 162 - Netflix Binges and Bushfires

After an interesting start to 2020, I look at the three things I've binged on Netflix: the BBC Dracula, The Neighbor (El Vecino) and The Witcher.

I also talk about the bushfires that have ravaged Australia since December.

    Martian Drive-In Podcast 161 - 2019 In Review

    Martian Drive-In Podcast 161 - 2019 In Review

After a six week hiatus I'm back with my overview of 2019 in genre movies and TV. It has been a weird and wonderful year full of diversity and sameness in equal measure. It's a good time to be a bum on a seat.

Martian Drive-In Podcast 160 - Kwaidan - Years and Years

From ghosts of the past to horrors of the future. I look at the 1964 Japanese anthology ghost story movie Kwaidan then move on to 2019 for the TV series Years and Years to look at the shitstorm that will be the 2020s.

Martian Drive-In Podcast 159 - The Banana Splits Movie- Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings

Martian Drive-In Podcast 159 - The Banana Splits Movie- Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings

No, the bloody movie didn't ruin your childhood, your parents did. This time around I'm looking at two modern movies. The comedic horror iteration known as The Banana Splits Movie (2019) and a great piece of Chinese action/fantasy/detective cinema from 2018, Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings.

Gore and wuxia, what more can you want?

Sci Fi Movies Lovingly and Intelligently Reviewed

One man podcasts are hard to pull off but Mr. Frost does it, and it's refreshing to hear a podcast this well done coming from someone who is not a professional entertainer.

SF/Fantasy Sister Podcast to the Great PALEO-CINEMA

PALEO-CINEMA PODCAST host Terry Frost started a second show devoted to less well-known SF and fantasy movies after doing about a hundred of his original podcasts. Like PCP, MDIP offers smart, insightful commentaries about movies you may or may not have heard of - though in some ways, he's even more opionated than with his other series, as he's clearly a serious SF fan disgusted by how STAR WARS warped the marketplace, turning SF movies into empty spectacle at the cost of ideas. He gives a lot of time to SF movies with ideas in them - dissecting them, saying what he thinks works and doesn't, and as you'd expect from him it's all intelligently thought-out and well-researched. Highly recommended.
