32 : Meditation - Letting Go of What's Not Serving You

As we transition seasons from Spring to Summer, what are you carrying that is no longer serving you? It may be the weight of things you said you would do or change when at the start of the year. It may be obvious or it may be more subtle.
I know that I personally have been noticing a story in my head about all the things I told myself I would do this year and did not get to yet. I've even been feeling bad about not meditating as regularly as I would like. As I pause during this period of transition from Spring to Summer, I've asked myself a wise question, shared by a friend many years ago, "Is this useful?". The reality is, it's not. With that awareness, can I choose to be kind and compassionate to myself and simply let it go?
That's what today's meditation is all about. It's a self compassion practice that invites you to let go of anything that is not serving you as you transition into the summer and the second half of the year. I hope you receive it as an invitation to be kinder and gentler with yourself, because you're carrying a lot this year and last year. Put some of that weight down and move forward fresh.

31 : A Three Month Sabbatical That Changed Everything with Eric Sanabria

In today’s episode I’m joined by my good friend Eric Sanabria. Eric and I used to work together at Google and now Eric is the Chief Business Officer for Oyster Financial in Mexico city.
In this episode, Eric and I explore how he came to learn to trust himself and his intuition about what he really needed during a difficult period in his life and how he ultimately took a three month sabbatical from his work at Google and how that sabbatical redefined his life and his priorities.
Eric felt this need within himself to take a break and he trusted this intuition and this feeling of simply one to take some time off, turn inward and to go to Mexico, to play his guitar. And that's exactly what he did.
One thing that stands out to me about this whole conversation is how important it is to take a step back sometimes to slow down, to create some space where we can turn down the volume and the busy-ness so that we can see more clearly what's going on in our minds and our hearts and our bodies.
And really that's what he did with this three months sabbatical. He cleared some space to go to Mexico, to play music, to work on the book, the artist's way, which included a lot of journaling and self exploration. And he really came to understand what's important to him, what he wants to get out of life and make some pretty big changes, ultimately resulting in him living and working in Mexico.
In this episode, Eric share some concrete practices for how you can tap into what it is you need, what it is you want, and to work through some of the limiting beliefs that might be coming up that tell you that you shouldn't pursue what you feel you need and how to deal with that using journaling, mindfulness and other techniques .
I really enjoyed this episode with my friend Eric sanabria. I think there's a lot of wisdom here. I learned a lot. It was a very reflective episode for me. I hope that you enjoy it as well.

Joyce is a licensed clinical professional counselor for over 20 years. And she's the founder of urban balance, a counseling practice. She launched in 2004 with just $500 while having $50,000 in student loans, . She grew urban balanced to over a hundred therapists, working from locations across the United States and ultimately sold urban balance to refresh mental health in 2017, where it grosses over $5 million annually

29 : Meditation - Compassion for India (A Loving Kindness Practice)
Welcome to the Mindful FIRE Podcast, where we explore living mindfully on the path to financial independence and beyond.
On today's guided meditation we practice sending compassion and loving kindness to the people of India who are suffering terribly under the overwhelming 4th wave of COVID-19. This practice of sending them well wishes nourishes your own heart and combats a feeling of helplessness.
It may not immediately solve the issue but it orients your mind towards compassion, towards helping those who are suffering. That is powerful
In this practice we first settle our mind and body. After some time we transition to cultivating compassion through the practice of loving kindness (metta). We expand our circle of care, starting with ourselves, out until we include all the people suffering in India and ultimately all people, everywhere.
I hope you find this supportive during these difficult times.
28 : Co-Creating a Community-Driven Mindfulness Movement at Google and Beyond with Ruchika Sikri

On today's episode. I'm joined by my friend Ruchika Sikri.
Ruchika is the founder of Mandala Ventures. After a successful corporate career of 25 plus years at Google, Microsoft and Cisco, she was following her life's purpose and mission to create a better world by supporting globally accessible mindfulness, compassion and wellness offerings.
Ruchika's inspiration to do this work comes from leading wellbeing and mindfulness learning programs and strategy at Google for eight plus years out of her 15 years at the. company.
Ruchika has successfully architected, facilitated and curated several wellbeing and mindfulness programs for over 120,000 employees at Google. She helped establish a self-sustaining culture where tens of thousands of Googlers regularly practice mindfulness for better wellbeing, healthy interpersonal relationships and sustainable high performance.
Outside of Google she's activating communities of wellness and mindfulness learning and practice in workplaces by accelerating growth of wellness, innovation, and good for humans technology and by cultivating physical and digital spaces for human flourishing and healing.
Ruchika is a board member and advisor to several nonprofits that empower women living in shelters, support mental health of at-risk students and provide a safe home to orphan children around the world. She also advises the founders of wellness technology and conscious living startups.
Ruchika is also a mother of two loving kids and lives with her wonderful husband and the Bay area of California.
In today's episode, Ruchika and I explore her journey through life, which started in India and led her to the United States and ultimately working for Google. And she shares how she came to find out about mindfulness when she really needed it after finding out herself, working 15 to 16 hours, when Google was just a small, fast growing company of around 5,000 people.
She shares how following her interest in this area ultimately led her to getting a job leading wellbeing and mindfulness programs at Google.
In this conversation, Ruchika also share some very practical tips on how we can start to bring our own passion and purpose into our workplaces to create our own programs that can impact the wellbeing and lives of those who we interact with and work with on a daily basis.
I've seen this in my own life. Getting involved in these programs has really allowed me to have a deeper sense of purpose at work beyond just the normal job aspect of things.

I recorded this practice, a guided introduction, as an invitation to anyone who wants to try meditation and mindfulness, whether they've tried it in the past.
I chose to keep it incredibly simple since after all, mindfulness is really simple. It's really just paying attention to the present moment with an attitude of openness, curiosity and kindness.
