Eddie Zimmerman returns for a chat about the iconic American. A man whose sheer tenacity kept the fledgling USA in the war despite repeated military setbacks in the early stages of the war. The State of the Union (of Napoleonic History)

The State of the Union (of Napoleonic History)

A less-than-Presidential, two hour broadcast, in which Zack has multiple aneurysms, Luke self proclaims to be a 'Scholar in Residence', and then refers to military history as 'Guns and balls and pointy things'.
We also do some serious historianing at some point in the broadcast.
This is a new style of content, in which we look at the state of Napoleonic history, new book releases, new historical dramas that are being released, and conferences you need to attend.

Amateur Dan ,

Deep but approachable and inspiring

As a massive fan of this period I was nervous about podcasts as many are very weak and amateur. This is a tour d’force. The guest go deep into the subject matter but in an approachable way.

I already have quite a knowledge base but I found much more of interest than I imagined. Some topics areas i was not interested in until I heard about them on some of the podcast.

Fantastic

Absolutely love this podcast. All the interviews with experts on various topics are much appreciated and always insightful; enjoyed Alexander Mikaberidze and Andrew Field in particular. And any time you can have Rachael on is superb; as a Marshalate fanatic myself, I love her episodes the most. Keep up the great work. PS: do Marshal Bessieres next !

Not reliable: a rebuttal

I can assure Mr. Jones that the host is maybe the most gentlemanly man I have ever met. He cautions against the “jump on and cheer Napoleon bandwagon gang,” but does so with a wink. Zack and I are close; I am from the US and nothing he has ever said do I find insulting to America or the Army in which I taught officers for two decades. Perhaps one might pose him questions and test his mettle before slamming him on this forum.
