    CLARITY THROUGH DISRUPTION

    Clarity is something we all seek. But real clarity, the kind we need when the stakes are high and change is the only option, this can only come about through some sort of disruption to our routines, ideas, and assumptions about how the world works. Well established patterns, routines, and ideas, while they may be beneficial at first, eventually lead to complacency. And the definition of "complacency" according to dictionary.com is, "a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like."     TIME AND SPACE

    You don’t have to know what will happen in the future to know who you want to be in the future. You have access to that future today - you just have to allow yourself to stand there and envision it.     REMOVING LIMITATIONS

    Standing in the future is essential to creating the kind of future you want to see because it: Removes the limitations of time and space. You can forget the obstacles for a moment, and as a result, more clearly see the outcome you want to achieve. Puts the focus on WHO you want to be. You can forget about what you “should” be doing, and just connect with the person you truly want to be. Gives you a vision you can take action on today.     NOSTALGIA

    REFLECTION VS. PROJECTION

    Sometimes discovering new possibilities is as simple as switching your point of view from projection to reflection. Projecting out into the future from the present day only gives you a limited perspective based on what you currently know or have experienced. It can be hard to see past the obstacles right in front of you.     OWNERSHIP

    You can’t move forward if you don’t feel a sense of agency. You can’t move forward if you don’t believe that you have the ability to influence outcomes. You can’t move forward if you’re standing by waiting to be spoon-fed an idea or story about where the future is going and what your role or place is in it. That’s not empowering. That’s designed to keep you where you’re at.     YOUR NEXT 10 YEARS

    What will you be most proud of in 10 years? It’s amazing what starts to unfold when you ask yourself that question first. Far too often we focus on what we want to accomplish in the next 10 years without considering whether or not it will bring us real pride and fulfilment long-term.     EVERYTHING IS A STORY

    What stories have you attached to the pivotal events of your past? Whether you realize it or not, the meaning you’ve attached to those events impact the decisions you make going forward. These stories define who you believe yourself to be, and therefore, impact who you ultimately become. That’s why now is a good time to revisit those events and decide if the stories you tell yourself about them are helping you become the person you want to be. What lessons have you learned over time? How have you grown and evolved?
