072: Survive The Night: Recapping BPN’s 50 Mile Overnight Ultra

072: Survive The Night: Recapping BPN’s 50 Mile Overnight Ultra

Today, Hope and Tony are joining me to relive the adventure of BPN's 50-mile overnight ultra. This race truly embodied who we are as a brand—a gritty race where runners are challenged to hold the standard. Not only were the runners unaware of the course or location until the day of, but we also had to contend with loose bulls, rugged terrain, and a significant course change just an hour before the race started. This race was another milestone in shaping the BPN brand that I and the BPN community will never forget.

Exactly what I need right now

Last night I listened to this podcast for the first time because I’m a big fan of Sally McRae and I wanted to hear her more about her journey to WS100. I always love her infectious laugh and motivating messages, but on this episode I really appreciated hearing Nick’s story of overcoming rejection when BPN wasn’t bought. I needed to hear about how instead of letting it get him down, he just thought about the possibilities in front of him and relentlessly believed it was possible. That vulnerability and authenticity is exactly the kind of storytelling that endears people to a brand. As a marketer for a supplement brand, I couldn’t wait to share this episode with my team.

Today I lost that job. It was the best job I ever had.

But because I heard that episode last night, I’m still going. I’m sad but I’m not mourning. I’m optimistic, I’m believing that this loss is making room for even bigger and better things to come. That if I stick with my purpose of showing people that they can feel better - that they can put themselves first not because it’s selfish, but because it’s selfless - then they can accomplish their purpose too.

Today I listened to the founder’s journey episode. It’s helped me so much to stay in the mindset to keep going, even if I can’t clearly see the path. I’ve struggled with self doubt so much in my life but in this new phase I will keep reminding myself that we all start from zero, we can all keep improving and great things will come if we stay true to that even if our planning isn’t perfect.

Thanks for the inspiration. I’ve never actually left a review for a podcast before but the messages were here for me at the exact right time so I felt obligated. Congrats on a beautiful brand and excellent storytelling. Maybe I’ll grab some of that mango Go Gel when I get my new job.
