What do I know?

What do I know about podcasts? Not much. The Nimrods podcast is the first one I’ve listened to and continue to listen to. So take this with a grain of salt.
I love this podcast. I love the guys doing it, Jake and James. And I love Green Day ( not the new stuff though 😜). These dudes are always entertaining and have a genuine chemistry that keeps me smiling during the whole episode. I especially enjoy the lyrical interpretations that make me hear old tunes in new ways. It’s also cool to go and check out the live performances they mention on YouTube after the episode is done. Ranking every song in Green Day’s catalog is quite a challenge but they make it fun and definitive. My personal prediction is a whole bunch of Dookie at the top of the list and a whole bunch of Uno, Dos, Tre at the bottom. But again, what do I know?

Fun and Engaging

Came over from the As You Were Alk3 pod shoutout and now have a renewed love for “The Day”. It's been great to revisit some deeper cuts I had forgotten were so good, and the "Old School" era has some true classics that I had previously glossed over. Jake and James do a great job diliberating the rankings with each other and provide well-comprised cases for why they believe every track sits where it does Green Day landscape based on a combination of quality and importance. The guys also do a good job of giving some liniency toward the newer material that goes past their nostalgic preferences. I appreciate hearing the open-minded discussion.

Nice work Nimrods

Great podcast about Green Day

This is a great podcast about Green Day’s songs. The format of the podcast is excellent and James and Jake are a pleasure to listen to. They are never boring even with episodes that clock in at 60+ minutes.

I love how they intersperse music clips throughout the episodes to both introduce the songs and to highlight elements of the songs that they are discussing (ex. a specific part of a bass line, a lyric, a guitar solo, etc.) It makes it so easy to understand what they’re talking about without having to stop to go listen to the songs to get all of the references.

Also, I really enjoy that they discuss three songs per episode and the way they are doing the rankings is fun and interesting. It’s really fun to think about where I would rank the songs and how it is similar or different to how they rank them.

Overall, I love listening and can’t wait for more!
