Holly Robinson Peete Was The Only Kid With A Famous Dad Episode 19 The Only One In The Room

    • Personal Journals

What if everyone that you ever met told you about their fond childhood memories of your father? Can you imagine what it'd be like to have a dad who was a hero, not just to you but to hundreds and thousands of dedicated daily viewers?
Actress, singer, producer and advocate, Holly Robinson Peete's father, Matt Robinson, was the original Gordon on Sesame Street and went on to become one of the most prolific actor/writer/producers of the 20th century. But to Holly, her father Matt wasn't just Gordon, he was her rock, her mentor and her safe place.
But what if one day your "safe place" was diagnosed with an illness from which there was no cure? Would you use your clout as a celebrity to funnel money into research? Or would you shift your role from daughter to caregiver and dutifully focus on meeting the day to day needs of the man who'd given you so much? And in turn realize others might need aid in this part of the process too?
