    The Marvelous Mrs. Bowen Yang

We’re tired and sticky, but we made it! InThe Outcast’s season finale, we turn our gaze towards awards season, which kicks off September 22 with the Emmys. TV’s biggest night is finally here, honoring the incredible shows and performances we’ve loved this year (and This Is Us, probably).
Helping host Rose Dommu sort through the veritable shit storm of the Emmys is newly minted Saturday Night Live cast member Bowen Yang. Rose and Bowen go category-by-category (the ones that matter, so just the women) making their picks for who will take home the gold. Along the way they discuss the enduring power of Lady Gaga, wild nights on Fire Island, and Emma Stone’s Emmy snub for “The Actress.” On WIG, Out’s Tre’vell Anderson and The Advocate’s Jeffrey Masters give the download on the week’s pressing queer news. Is Ariana Grande starring in the Wicked movie? Is RuPaul letting trans women audition for Drag Race? Are Rihanna and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo BFFs? Will The Outcast ever EGOT?

    That’s a Deal Breaker, Ladies

    That’s a Deal Breaker, Ladies

Being queer doesn’t come with a guidebook, and LGBTQ+ folks are often left to navigate the world without the same social resources available to cishetero people. Thankfully, John Paul Brammer is using his experience and empathy to offer guidance in the form of his weekly Out advice column !Hola Papi! This week, John Paul joins host Rose Dommu to consult on issues ranging from lesbian influencer drama to whatever the opposite of being a “size queen” is. And on WIG: Jeffrey Masters, Arisce Wanzer, and Taylor Henderson debate whether Kristen Stewart should have stayed in the closet in order to land a Marvel movie and if Boston’s “straight pride parade” was a flop.

Reality dating competitions may be a cornerstone of cishetero culture, but that’s all changing with the new season of MTV’s Are You the One, which features an entire cast of messy queer sluts doing their best Jersey Shore impressions. This week, AYTO cast members Rembrandt Duran and Basit join host Rose Dommu to chat about respectability politics, toxic masculinity in queer dating culture, and whether or not the AYTO house was stocked with enemas. In WIG, Rose is joined by Out staff writer Harron Walker and LGBTQ&A host Jeffrey Masters as they unpack the VMAs, Trump’s homophobic challenger, and Karamo Brown’s enduring love for Sean Spicer.

LEARNED SO MUCH AND SO FUN

Hi so y’all are wonderful but now that Fran is gone I was struck that the people on the podcast didn’t understand why Kirsten is important? Lesbian representation y’all?

Loved then it got boring

Let me start by saying that I was so in favor for this podcast since Fran Tirado was the person hosting it, I thought what he had to say and Bri g to the table was fantastic. He was doing an amazing job with the platform he was given. Then so where along the lines Rose took over and well, they are kind of boring if we’re being honest. After giving them a chance and waiting to see if the spark was still there I’m saddened to say it’s not. I will check back when season 2 is out but I think this podcast started off strong then suddenly It didn’t deliver.

Brilliance!

I love the combination of education and hilarity. This podcast is absolute brilliance and has me cackling out loud. I cannot wait for more!
