On our first episode of The Outsiders we interview comedian/visual artist Vu Minh Tu! We went deep with this one discussing Covid-19 and the recent lockdowns in Vietnam, the origins of Tu's and JK's friendship, Tu's upbringing, schooling and childhood, laissez faire parenting, Tu cursing like she was possessed as a small child, the gift of truancy, authenticity, suicidal failures, the nature of self, drugs, existing in a body, confrontation through comedy, Vietnamese women and the ways they defy stereotypes of Asian women, Tu's vaginal health, the freedom that comes with leaving some things undefined, finding our commonalities, secret identities, finding the funny in common folks, and of course what it is to be an Outsider and how she navigates life as one!
