All hockey leads to the beer league

As a 20+ year beer leaguer these stories hit close to home. Beer leaguers are the same everywhere. Great friends, great characters, great stories. (Marginal hockey)

Keep it up fellas!

Want to know what beer league hockey is all about???

Taco Tom hits the nail on the head with this podcast. Hear authentic interviews with the guys that live and lived the life in “beer league” hockey. Listen to the real locker room stories, the playing resumes, the legendary trips , the friendships and lifelong bond that comes along with the brotherhood of the “beer league” . This is the real deal !!

Great stories from beer league hockey players.

I started listening to this podcast about a year and a half ago after looking for a beer league hockey centered podcast. The show is formatted with an introduction segment with the hosts catching up on what happened in their beer league games that week along with some topical discussion. That leads into a long format interview with someone who has or currently plays beer league hockey. Then it ends with a short wrap up segment.
The hosts are Thom McLean and Jeremy Puckett. Thom started playing hockey later in life, and can speak about learning to play with people who have been skating since they were kids. Jeremy Puckett is a goalie who has played competitive roller hockey and now plays ice hockey. They both can be rough around the edges and the content definitely is 18+ material. I’d caution that there is a lot of “locker room talk” that some will enjoy and some will be put off by.
The show is based in Florida, but it does a good job of talking to people from all over the United States and Canada. I’d say it heavily features interviews from Florida and Boston, but they do interview people anywhere from California to Toronto to New Hampshire. They generally interview people who have been playing for quite a long time and most are 40+ years old.
The show is a fantastic listen and I greatly enjoy it, but if I had to be picky there are a few things that could be improved. The sound mixing could be changed so the guests are louder. Sometimes the guests who are calling from a phone are quieter than the hosts and can be difficult to hear in a loud environment. I’d like to see some interviews with people who maybe started playing only a few years ago and what their experience has been and what they expected when they started playing. (This is coming from a 30 year old guy who is newer to playing hockey, so I may be off from what other listeners want).
