    21. Beyond Academics: Navigating College Admissions, Scholarships and Study Success with Nikkee Porcaro

In this episode I interview Nikkee with No Anxiety Prep. She has been a fixture on the college admissions scene for over 15 years, assisting students both domestically and internationally with the entire college application process. As you can tell, she’s someone you can go to if you need help with making a college decision or have questions about the process along the way. If you enjoy listening to this episode, please take a moment to share it with a friend. Here’s the episode. Nikkee was full of knowledge in the college realm and beyond. I hope you grabbed some valuable takeaways. Here are mine. Prove them wrong. This is great advice for people who have been challenged. I think this can fuel a fire just like Nikkee’s to be able to do the hard work that is required to prove not only to the person doubting you, but more importantly to yourself that you are capable of achieving whatever you put your mind to. Preparation can curb anxiety. I know that’s probably too broad of a statement and I’m not in the mental health space so I can’t fully define or give an answer to anxiety, but at least for myself I know this rings to be true. If you are struggling with anxiety in work, in school, in anything, try that thing that brings those feelings up for you with different levels of preparation and see how it affects you. Nikkee lists out many ways of finding scholarships before you begin college and while you are currently attending. Even if your parents or yourself have the funds to pay tuition, scholarships are worth the effort put in to pay for your education. Don’t ignore this tactic, go back to around the 20 minute mark to listen to all the ways Nikkee suggests finding scholarships Find your style of learning that best suits you. And I think to add to this, find the tricks and methods that help you stay disciplined to study. Whether that is keeping the best study snacks on hand or using the Pomodoro method, find what works for you. Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. Even though it might be scary, it is worth it in the end to know you lived a life of intentionally and reaped beautiful rewards. 20. How to Use SEO to Attract Dream Clients While Building a Sustainable Business with Kelly Kumler

Today I have Kelly on the podcast. At the time of recording this episode, she was a boy mom of 2 with a 3rd on the way. Some time has passed since we recorded and she has since had her 3rd baby. Congrats Kelly, I hope you and baby are doing amazing! She is a former teacher turned business owner of Kelly Ryann Co, a boutique brand and website design agency. She specialized in creating perfect brands and breathtaking websites pairing that all with game changing SEO strategies. If you enjoy listening to this podcast, don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss the next episode! Kelly was a blast having a conversation with. She’s one of those people I could be besties with in real life. She was so genuine and funny. Hope you enjoyed the conversation as much as I did. Here are the takeaways. Even though there were self-doubts and website design was so different than teaching, with no prior experience Kelly decided to start small and gain skills and confidence in something completely new. That is such an encouragement that if you feel like if your life isn’t where you want it to be you can always pivot and long as you have the grit and determination to figure it out along the way. SEO is an important part of a website and a business’ online marketing, but having clarity before the SEO is even more important Time tracking can be a great way to keep track of your day and where your time was spent. Even if it’s not all on work, its good to regularly evaluate where your time is going. Its also great to see where your time has previously been spent so you can be more accurate in your planning which leads me to takeaway 4. Kelly mentions how she has been more intentional in setting aside time for planning. I can attest from personal experience how this has really helped me in my business. I try to set aside at least 5 minutes at the beginning and end of each day to plan for the day and see what is coming in the next few days. Above that, Kelly mentions financial planning which is more long term. Basically, the takeaway here is that if you are an entrepreneur and own your own business, it is super helpful to intentionally set aside time for short term and long term planning. Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. Even though it might be scary, it is worth it in the end to know you lived a life of intentionally and reaped beautiful rewards. 19. Turning Your Traumas Into Treasures with Asher Wright and Lavinia Grosanu

Today I have two friends, Asher and Lavinia, who I met through a speaking group. Asher is a retired US Army Veteran, cofounder of Life Changing Wisdom Coach and coauthor of the book we discuss today, Turn Your Trauma Into Treasures. Lavinia is an entrepreneur, cofound of Life Changing Wisdom Coach and the coauthor to the same book. These two have accumulated wisdom throughout their individual journeys which pours over into their book. So, let’s see what they have to say. If you enjoy listening to this episode, it would mean the world if could leave a review on apple podcast, share it on Instagram or even with a friend. Here’s the episode.     Asher and Lavinia were great! They bring such an important view to how your thinking can affect your whole life! Here are the takeaways. Discipline takes habits and habits take practice. Asher had 20 years in the military to practice those habits. Don’t be discouraged if your habits are hard to be consistent with. Take it one step at a time and keep practicing those habits. Everyone has trauma that has happened in their life whether big or small. Make sure to take the time to heal those traumas and turn them into treasure. Otherwise, it will affect your life without you even understanding why you are behaving or feeling a certain way. Your traumas can actually be a gift because they set your life in motion and the generations that follow. You just have to go back and look at your story from a different angle. When you have doubts, you should doubt your doubts. Sounds crazy, but like Asher said, doubt it powerful. So when you start to doubt yourself, instead doubt the opposition. The last takeaway for me wasn’t discussed in the episode but I wanted to add another point of view regarding how you think. I heard this from the pastor at our church on the Sunday after recording this episode. He talked about the importance of protecting your peace. I hope you understand that there are many ways to think about how your thoughts and inner dialogue affects your life and this is my perspective. So he talked about protecting your peace, or in terms of what we talked about in this podcast, language affecting your reality. This can be a very practical thing that you can apply to your life. It comes down to resisting the enemy and submitting to God or resisting God and trusting what the enemy has to say. You do this by learning how to discern the voice of the enemy so you can tune him out in order to tune God in. I hope I am conveying this as good as Mark did because he did some great preaching that day. So without getting too off topic from what Asher, Lavinia and I talked about I am going to link the video of last Sunday in the show notes if you would like to listen to that message. Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. 18. Tips For Successfully Running a Business as a Married Couple with Chantel Henry

Today I have with me Chantel Henry. Chantel and her husband are the co-founders of The Bestsellers Academy, a company dedicated to helping experts become thought leaders by developing the intellectual property that expands and sustains their businesses. With over 15 years of combined experience in the consulting and publicity industry, they have successfully guided over 1,300 people on their writing journey. If you enjoy listening to this episode, it would mean the world if could leave a review on apple podcast, share it on Instagram or even with a friend. Here’s the episode. Chantel had some great advice for those of you thinking of going into business with a spouse. She also had great insight for what it takes to run a successful and sustainable business. Here are the takeaways. Intellectual property is understanding that the ideas, knowledge, and expertise that you possess is valuable enough to put a price tag on it. Working with your spouse can be very rewarding, but there are constantly things that need to be worked through. Such as distinguishing your partner’s voice from the voice of the CEO. I thought it was brilliant when Chantel came up with a way to distinguish this by literally having her husband wear a different color hat. What I love about this, is you can literally make something as easy or as hard as you want to. In this case, Chantel and her husband brainstormed what could be the most simple and effective way to distinguish these two roles. It’s only as hard as you make it We were talking about this in terms of working with your spouse, but I really think it applies to all businesses – understanding your limitations are so important to the sustainability of your business and marriage So much has been deposited into us through our experiences, joy, pain, peace, and so, and each one of our jobs is to unwrap our gifts and share it with everyone who can benefit. Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. 17. How to Move Past Hard Experiences with Patrick Linfante

Patrick has experienced so many valleys and mountaintops – transforming from a broken man to an Ironman. He uses his experience to give listeners a vision for creating their own path to their dreams, their own vision, and to recapturing the dream of their life. His pivotal moment came after an accident where he was thrown from his car and woke to three broken vertebrae in his neck. From there he began a journey to rebuild himself, his body, and his spirit. Today we talk about some pivotal moments in his life and how he worked through them. If you enjoy listening to this episode, it would mean the world if could leave a review on apple podcast, share it on Instagram or even with a friend. Here’s the episode. I feel like Patrick has some unique life experiences that have really shaped who he is. I really like how he could relate his experiences to everyone who is going through something hard. Everyone’s situation may be different, but everyone goes through hard things and its important to know how to work through those. Here are the takeaways. Discipline wins over motivation any day of the week. Patrick reminds us that you get a lot more results out of actually doing what you know needs to be done, not just what you want to do. Taking accountability for your own actions and choices can really be pivotal in your life. Patrick took accountability in his life for making one of the worst decisions of his life and chose to make it a learning opportunity. Patrick shares how Vulnerability can be so helpful for other people in similar situations needing to share their story. It can help you begin to process your experience and allow healing to take place. When forward progress seems too overwhelming, focus on small victories. As Patrick said, Some days are easier, some days are harder. Some days have a lot more fruits, some days have a lot more planting. Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. 16. Our Take on the Importance of Getting in the Room with Krista Marie Lynch

I interview Krista Marie Lynch who I met at EmpowerHer Live, a live networking/personal development event. If you missed the last episode let me tell you a bit about Krista. she is a business coach, photographer, and host of the She Calls Her Shots Podcast. She helps creative business owners ditch the overwhelm and create thriving businesses by focusing on the tactical strategies, habits, mindset & confidence work that's crucial to help them see long term, sustainable growth. The interview  with her was quite juicy and ran a bit long so I split it into two episodes and this is the second of those two episodes. If you missed the last one feel free to go back and listen to that. We talked about her path of resistance in her almost 10 years of entrepreneurship. If you enjoy listening to this episode, it would mean the world if could leave a review on apple podcast, share it on Instagram or even with a friend. Here’s the episode.   Takeaways No matter what stage you are at in your business, going to a live networking/ personal development event can be soooooo valuable. Even if you’re not in the place of implementing what you learn at the event, try to write notes and reflect on stuff as much as possible. The tiniest, but consistent implementation of things you learned will make the biggest difference. Reflecting can be immediately after the conference, but can also be later in time. Going to a live event can benefit you for   Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. 15. The Winding Road of Entrepreneurship - It's Okay to Pivot with Krista Marie Lynch

Krista is a business coach, photographer, and host of the She Calls Her Shots Podcast. She helps creative business owners ditch the overwhelm and create thriving businesses by focusing on the tactical strategies, habits, mindset & confidence work that's crucial to help them see long term, sustainable growth. If you are an online entrepreneur and have ever thought about creating a membership this podcast episode is for you! Even if you have ever thought about starting your own business, this episode will bring you tremendous value! If you enjoy listening to this episode, it would mean the world if could leave a review on apple podcast, share it on Instagram or even with a friend. For those of you who think Entrepreneurship is an easy straight and narrow path, you can see from Krista’s story that there will definitely be some curves in the road and that’s totally okay and normal. She mentions you don’t know what will work until you try it. Sometimes you just have to start and pivot as you go along. And for those of you who aren’t Entrepreneurs but thinking of becoming one, I don’t want to scare you into thinking that the road is too bumpy to have a smooth ride. Okay, enough with road analogies, but Once you gain clarity on what it is that works for you and are able to build out systems it can be simple. Just remember that simple does not translate to easy. Takeaways Sustainability is super important in entrepreneurship. If you are putting a lot of effort into something that is not bringing results, pivoting is crucial to be able to do something that both brings results and is sustainable in the long run. If you are wanting to start something new, whether it is a new business or even a service you offer, think about investing in it before launching in it. A few examples of investing in your idea before starting could entail education like books, podcast, or course, or investing time in shadowing someone that currently does that or time in creating valuable content before launching. Krista talks about how investing in the people she wanted to serve before she started made it so much easier than when she had started anything previously. I know my takeaways are normally shorter, but I really want to harp on this one. Investing in something doesn’t always involve money. Starting a new business or even offering a new product or service can be a huge commitment and just proving to yourself that you can commit to investing 3-6 months of educating yourself on something or creating content consistently can be the difference between success and failure. You have to talk about what you are doing. If people don’t know what you are working on or offering they can never utilize your product or service. This is a huge lesson I have learned on my journey. For example, I spent hours creating a beautiful DIY bookkeeping spreadsheet and have sold mm maybe 2. And not because it’s a bad product, but because I don’t market it enough, I don’t talk about it enough. Full disclosure, I haven’t learned this to the fullest yet, but it doesn’t have to always be selling all the time. Like Krista said, its really about the connection you make with the community around you and creating those relationships. Then it becomes easier to talk about the things you’ve been working on and it is a much more natural process to talk about your products or services.   Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. Even though it might be scary, it is worth it in the end to know you lived a life of intentionally and reaped beautiful rewards. 14: Getting Serious about Systems with Sarah Ziesler

Today I have with me Sarah who was born and raised in Germany and moved to the US in 2017.In Germany, She worked for a corporation gradually moving up the ranks. This allowed her to gain an incredible business insight and knowledge. In 2020 she started her own business and now specializes in empowering women in the business world by designing a strategy that fits their nature of business in order to reach their goals successfully. If you enjoy listening to this episode, it would mean the world if could leave a review on apple podcast, share it on Instagram or even with a friend.  If you guys haven’t figured this out already is that having efficient systems in place in your business make a world of difference. Personally, I probably could have been better at processing through the clarity portion of starting a business. Remember, that is a crucial part in your success and like Sarah mentioned should probably come before your systems because If you’re not clear where you are going, you can’t increase your productivity. As she said, you’re basically just throwing spaghetti on the wall and see what sticks. Now for the takeaways. Mistakes are not a bad thing because we can use them to improve. Try to change your mindset and make that shift of seeing mistakes as something to learn from in order to run a better business. There is a specific time when people should start putting systems in place. It’s important to get clarity in your business basics before putting systems in place. Your process and systems are a part of a bigger picture, but what is even more important is your mindset. Stress is what happens when you feel like you are out of control. So when you spend the time to determine what your priorities are in your business, it gives you back that sense of control and decreases your stress.   Thank you so much for listening in to this episode, I hope you were encouraged to take the path of resistance, whatever that looks like for you. Even though it might be scary, it is worth it in the end to know you lived a life of intentionally and reaped beautiful things.
