The Patrick Madrid Show: April 19, 2024 - Hour 1

The Patrick Madrid Show: April 19, 2024 - Hour 1

Patrick navigates through listener Pam's query about pew manners — where societal norms meet personal preference in sacred spaces. Patrick touches upon how simple acts of kindness, like a husband holding a door for his wife, can foster affection and respect in a relationship. Then, Mary from Austin shares a poignant story of her daughter's return to the Catholic Church, facing a setback when her children are denied entry into Catholic school due to past behavior. Patrick discusses the power of compassion over judgment and the importance of encouragement in our spiritual communities. It's about building bridges, not walls, in our journey of faith.

Patrick, referring to an email and a call that he received yesterday from a woman who left the Catholic faith, talks about salvation and invincible ignorance.
Chris - Does Patrick think that Jesus is condemning Judas to hell? (11:21)
Pam - What are good manners at church? Should the man let the woman go in front of him at communion? My relationship is more like 'two equals'. (18:50)
Mary - My daughter recently came back to the Church, but her kids were denied by the Catholic School. What should she do? (26:46)
Norma - Being Rejected at School: I think that happens more than we would like to admit. It shines a bad light on us. My husband is Baptist. When he notices inconsistencies with the love of Christ, it's hard to explain to him what Catholics are really about. (36:00)
Patty - Someone was commenting on yesterday’s show about why we're sad when someone dies. I think that we're sad because we have lost a gift.
Anita - I would like to rebut the end of the pew situation! I have severe anxiety and claustrophobia. When someone pushes me in, it makes me uncomfortable and I have no exit.
Mike - I am a Catholic School principal. It is standard practice for the principal to talk to the previous Catholic school. I think Patrick's comments were wrong about the pastor trying to override the principal’s decision. (48:03)

Gina – My kids were also rejected at Catholic school
Lori - My grandson goes to Catholic school but he isn't baptized. I asked the priest to baptize him; they said no. Can I take him to the Protestant church to get baptized? (11:29)
Mary - Want to say thank you for all you did and said on a pilgrimage I went on with you last year to the Holy Land
Marie - Do you know of a website that lists cosmetics that list fetal stem cells?

Skip – Is the women at the well an example of Jesus correcting someone who was not of the same faith? (43:05)
Tracy - I listen all the time! I just discovered Glen's story corner. One of them spoke to the conversation today: we don't know what another person's experience is.

The conversation takes a deeper turn as he tackles misunderstandings of the prodigal son parable, emphasizing its universal lessons for all, not just wayward children. The Patrick Madrid Show: April 18, 2024 - Hour 1

Patrick engages with a heartfelt inquiry from John in Milwaukee, who is caught in the conundrum of whether to keep crosses displayed on his walls while selling his home. Patrick addresses the spiritual implications of this decision, drawing wisdom from Romans 1:16-17, and encourages standing firm in one's faith by not being ashamed of the Gospel - even in the realm of real estate.

Karen - Just sold my house and I did not take down our religious articles

The Patrick Madrid Show: April 18, 2024 - Hour 2

Patrick tackles the profound questions of faith, belonging, and salvation. He discusses how true belief and membership in the Catholic Church are viewed through the lens of tradition and scripture and how it's necessary for salvation according to the Church. But no matter where your journey of faith has taken you, remember, it's never too late to find your way back home. With a heartfelt invitation to return to the fold and the promise of help to overcome life's hurdles, the dialogue reminds us that behind the doctrine, it's compassion and community that truly reflect the spirit of the Church.

Toni (email) – Do only Catholics go to Heaven? (00:45)
Rosie - There was a murder/suicide in a house my daughter is buying. Should the house be blessed? (08:39)
John - Who is the patron saint known for sense of humor?
Lori - We just went on a worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend. We loved it. Are these funded by the Catholic Church? The facilities were so bad I had to go out and buy a heater.
Toni - Patrick just read my letter (I am the Lutheran woman). Is Patrick saying that every Lutheran minister who knows what Catholics teach about salvation are going to hell? (24:20)
Amy - I agree about Salvation. What about Protestants that don't believe that the Catholic Church is the true Church? What if they aren't convinced by the arguments? (43:20)
Victoria - Why do people ask for low gluten hosts? Isn't Jesus fully present in the Eucharist? (47:52)

What does the Catholic Church and biker clubs have in common? Hint, it’s not a love for sentimental tunes of Air Supply. Patrick also takes on more serious topics such as the Kingdom of the Divine Will movement and the complex legacy of Louisa Piccaretta. Patrick shares his concerns about the theological issues within the movement and speaks about the aggressive reactions he's observed from its fervent followers when faced with criticism.

Grateful for Patrick Madrid and Relevant Radio

I had been urged by a friend and my sister to listen to Relevant Radio for quite some time and I started listening around 3 years ago and haven’t stopped. I especially like Patrick’s show because I have learned more about Catholicism that I never knew in all my 70 years! Oh if I knew all these things before I might be a saint! Thank you for all that you do to educate us.

Great show

This is just a great show. His calm personality is great. I like how he brings everyday culture into the show and gives the catholic view on it. He also had a good sense of humor too. Will keep listening everyday.
