The speakers in this episode are as follows:
*Allison Maurer is a veteran sports dietitian with more than 16 years of experience fueling athletes from high school, collegiate, to professional athletes. She is the Director of Sports Nutrition and Fueling with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Previously, Maurer spent nearly nine years as the Sports Dietitian at the University of Tennessee (2007-2016) where she oversaw the performance nutrition for all sports. Before the University of Tennessee, Maurer was the Sports Dietitian and an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Colorado, Boulder (2004-2007). Maurer served on the board of directors for The Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA) for 6 years. She is a board certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD), and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
*Wendy Sterling, MS, RD, CSSD, CEDRD-S is a Certified Eating Disorders Registered Dietitian Supervisor through the International Eating Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, and a Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She is the Team Nutritionist of the Oakland Athletics, and was the former nutritionist for the NY Jets, and Golden State Warriors. She is the owner of Sterling Nutrition, a nutrition private practice in the Bay Area, and utilizes a non-diet, Health at Every Size® approach. She is the co-author of “How to Nourish Your Child Through an Eating Disorder.” She and her co-author Casey Crosbie, RD, CEDRDS created the innovative approach to refeeding called the “Plate-by-Plate Approach®,” a no-numbers, visual approach, which has been featured in the Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also the co-author of “No Weigh! A Teens Guide to Body Image, Food, and Emotional Wisdom.” She and her co-authors have an upcoming book, due late 2021, for parents who want to help their teens with body satisfaction and their relationship to food. Wendy received her B.S. in dietetics/nutritional sciences from Cornell University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Nutrition Education at Teacher’s College at Columbia University where she also completed her dietetic internship. *Ally Gallop, MS, RD, CSSD, ISAK Level 1 is the Major League Dietitian for the Houston Astros Baseball Club in Houston, Texas, previously working as the Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition for the University of Utah. For the Astros, Ally runs the nutrition programming for the 40-man roster, including medical nutrition therapy and performance nutrition programming. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition, Health from the University of British Columbia, Masters of Nutrition from Tufts University, and a diploma in sports nutrition from the International Olympic Committee. She is board-certified as a specialist in sports dietetics and writes a performance nutrition blog at GallopToVictory.com.
