Why Is The Sixers Defense This Bad? (PST Show #374)

Why Is The Sixers Defense This Bad? (PST Show #374)

This week, we took a deep dive into what we're seeing on the court from the Philadelphia 76'ers as they and we begin looking toward the playoffs. There are still a ton of questions surrounding this team. Tom West, Associate Editor at LibertyBallers.com, joined us to discuss the ups and downs as we all hope this team, with a great deal of talent, can get it together.

But first, we gave our thoughts on Carson Wentz as it pertains to the turnovers in his career. Will he be able to improve this aspect of his game this season? (approx. 6:05)

Then we dove into some Flyers talk as the season has resumed. Travis Sanheim and Phil Myers have been a dynamic duo, and Carter Hart has been nothing short of impressive in front of the net. (approx. 11:55)

We then discussed how terrible the Phillies bullpen has been early on in the season. Is there any true hope? (approx. 20:05)

On the Highbrow Segment this week, we gave our thoughts on the fact that gambling in sports and the NFL in particular isn't going anywhere. Amy Trask, former CEO of the Raiders, recently wrote an op-ed talking about league-wide concerns about and evolution of gambling over many years, which has led us to where we are at today. Should we have concerns that gambling may erode the "integrity" of sports? (approx. 24:40)

This on the Lowbrow Segment, we've got a brand new top-3 list as we're getting into the 8th month of the year: the top-3 best athletes to ever wear the No. 8 jersey. (approx. 32:45)

What we're throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview with Tom West from Liberty Ballers as we discussed the future of this Sixers team. First, we touched on the job the NBA has done in terms of the bubble and safety of the players, coaches and staff. From there, Tom gave us his one-word to describe the Sixers at this point in the season. We then discussed how awful the defense has been at this point, and corrections the team needs to make moving forward. How has Ben Simmons at the elbow helped from an offensive perspective? What does Tobias Harris' consistency mean for the future? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 42:25)

    Topics the guys got into:
    - Alvin Kamara's production and future with the team.
    - Could the Saints have a top-3 defense in the NFL this season?
    - Future concerns about the quarterback position, looking beyond Drew Brees.
    - Taysom Hill's body of work, and what kind of NFL player he truly is.

Getting Ready For The Flyers' Future (PST Show #373)

Getting Ready For The Flyers' Future (PST Show #373)

The Philadelphia Flyers have resumed play and have taken to the ice! The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are right around the corner, as is the round-robin, and Flyers fans are eager to see how this team performs as we get ready for a bright future as well. This week, Charlie O'Connor from The Athletic Philadelphia and the BSH Radio podcast joined us for a lengthy discussion about what we can expect from this team in the playoffs and the team moving forward overall.

But first, we talked about what the worst case scenario may be that would shut down sports again as the pandemic persists. (approx. 8:25)

Then we dove into some Sixers talk: what we're currently seeing from Ben Simmons and his 3-point shots; how Embiid and Horford will split time in the playoffs. (approx. 16:25)

We then got into some Phillies talk as Vince Velasquez's first outing of the year was anything but stellar, and the bullpen struggled mightily against the Miami Marlins. (approx. 25:40)

On the Highbrow Segment this week, we discussed and gave our thoughts on how social media and even sports bloggers may become even more dominant in sports media since traditional reporters aren't able to be in the locker room, interview players face-to-face, and have the access they're used to having. How might this continue to shift the way sports are reported in the future? (approx. 35:30)

This on the Lowbrow Segment, we've got a brand new top-3 list dedicated to Jason Peters: who are the top athletes, age 35 or older, to play their respective sport to this day. (approx. 42:00)

What we're throwing down on the Table this week is an incredible and in-depth interview with Charlie O'Connor from The Athletic and Broad Street Hockey Radio podcast as we discussed the future of this Flyers team. First, we dove into the details of the Oskar Lindblom deal and why it's good for the Flyers and Oskar. From there, it was a dissection about Joel Farabee and Scott Laughton. Which veteran on this Flyers team will truly step it up in the coming weeks? What kind of experience might Yegor Zamula get during the remainder of this season? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 57:30)

2020 Phillies Season Preview (PST Show #372)

We're back talking Philly sports, and this week we presented our 2020 Phillies Season Preview! It's hard to believe there's going to be a baseball season as we eagerly anticipate what this Phillies team will do. This week, Justin Klugh from Baseball Prospectus and The Dirty Inning podcast joined us for a great discussion about what we might expect from this upcoming, and bizarre Phillies and MLB season.

But first, we talked about a poll we put up on Twitter this past week where we asked our followers what Philly sports team may surprise us most for the remainder of the year. (approx. 4:15)

Then we dove into some Eagles talk: the effects of Jason Peters playing right guard, and how bad the Birds' linebacker corps really is. (approx. 9:00)

We then got into some Sixers talk as Shake Milton and Ben Simmons are apparently working well together in Orlando. What could this mean for the Sixers in the playoffs? (approx. 20:15)

On the Highbrow Segment this week, Dan Snyder and the Washington Football Team are not only in the process of changing their team name, but the organization is in a world of hurt after an article was recently published in The Washington Post about the team’s culture of sexual harassment against its female employees and what an awful organization they are in general. Can the NFL’s Washington team truly turn a corner like other pro teams have done? (approx. 27:20)

This on the Lowbrow Segment, we got into a discussion about what movies they may want to review next on the show. (approx. 37:35)

What we're throwing down on the Table this week is our 2020 Phillies Season Preview with Justin Klugh. First, we talked about what the future holds for the 3rd base position now that Jean Segura will be stepping into that role. From there, we discussed how influential Bryce Harper is within this Phillies organization on and off the field. Has Vince Velasquez actually "figured it out?" And what should our level of concern for Rhys Hoskins be this coming season? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 47:20)

Movie Review: Over The Top (PST Show #371)

Movie Review: Over The Top (PST Show #371)

This is our fourth and last installment of our movie reviews as we've been taking a short break from the break in sports. Next week, we'll be getting back to sports as the baseball season is set to kick off. However, we've got some stellar analysis coming your way this week as we review the 1987 film that was filled with testosterone, "Over The Top," starring Sylvester Stallone.

The guys dissected and reviewed this incredible, yet awful film from top to bottom. They dove into story development, plot, ridiculous quotes, the horrific acting, and much more. While this may be the last movie review in this series, the guys will likely be doing more in the future. Enjoy!

    OPPOSITION TERRITORY: Carolina Panthers

This installment of "Opposition Territory" features Jack Duffy of Sports Illustrated who covers the Carolina Panthers. Topics the guys got into:
    - Where could Matt Rhule take the NFL in the future from a coaching perspective?
    - Aside from Christian McCaffrey, are there other players currently on the Panthers that the team can build around?
    - How will Teddy Bridgewater mesh with a prolific, yet new wide receiver corps?

When some jabroni gives a 1-star review for dumb reasons, you gotta defend your podcast. The only true 4 for 4 Philadelphia sports podcast. Been a fan since 2016 and it’s only gotten better. Keep up the great work Jeff!

This show is awful

Nothing but fake nervous laughter throughout the whole show. It’s insanely frustrating to listen to. Moving onto better Philly sports podcasts.
