The Action Comes Alive

Few things tickle my nostalgia bone quite like Power Records, so I never miss a too-infrequent episode of the Power Records Podcast with co-hosts Chris Franklin and Rob Kelly. The hosts have obvious affection for the subject matter, and while their comments are fun and informative, most importantly THEY JUST PLAY THE RECORDS. Each episode of the show has at least one complete Power Records story, which is why you want to listen. I hope they get through the whole catalogue. Recommended.

Not as much fun as the blog

I first learned of Rob’s love of Power Records through the great Power Records blog he used to maintain on Blogger where not only could I listen to these great stories, but I could follow the action with the scanned comic pages right there on the blog. But something happened almost two years ago, and the scans were deleted, and the links to the streamed audio were broken. Rob has been saying that he would fix both, but I haven’t seen much action in that regard. Then I learned he had this podcast, and once again I can listen to these fun stories, a few of which I had as a child, once again. But I do miss the artwork. That’s why I can only give this podcast 3 stars. It just feels so incomplete to me.

Powerful fun! (Has someone already used that line?)

Rob and Chris come through with another excellent Fire and Water Network show, one that is steeped in warm nostalgia and deep affection for its subject matter. The end result is a whole lot of fun. Always worth a listen, and I say that on the record.
